About the Role
As a Freelance UX/UI designer on our Web Services team, you will collaborate closely with our brands and developers to design and deliver end-to-end dynamic, intuitive and user-friendly experiences across all digital platforms. You are an adept problem-solver with a keen creative eye and can expertly collaborate cross-functionally. You are skilled at managing your own work and are experienced in translating ideas into impactful visual designs and proving why they are an effective solution.
This is a freelance, remote (Eastern hours, US-based) opportunity and reports to the Director of Web Services. This position pays $ 60 / hour.
Responsibilities
Partner with brand teams to build a keen understanding of our individual brand needs, our current customer base and work together to design aesthetically appealing and intuitive interfaces that will further augment our customer UI experience
Attend occasional video/audio calls, participate in daily Slack stand up, and maintain regular communication via our Team’s Slack, Monday.com boards, and/or emails during business hours
Champion the user journey at each phase of the design process from ideating and problem-solving cross functionally through to detailed visual design solutions
Participate in the e-Commerce roadmap planning process to help identify opportunities/ emerging trends and aid in providing scope and estimates to projects and tasks
Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research to make thoughtful, innovative and informed decisions on improvements or to solve digital challenges to current UI experience
Execute all phases of the design process from user flow, site maps, conception, wireframing and prototyping through final hand-off to developers and quality assurance
Maintain thorough visual consistency by closely adhering to brand style guides, asset libraries and grids
Uphold existing file and asset library organization
Translate brand team feedback into actionable design edits that are rooted in the original goal of the project
Diligently self-manage your own project pipeline and ensure timely execution and delivery of work by communicating with the Project Manager
Create clear and effective design deliverables that can be seamlessly transitioned to our developers
About You
2+ years experience in a fast paced e-commerce, start-up environment
Strong portfolio demonstrating a focused body of UX/UI work and highlighting your design processes, problem-solving skills, and capabilities
High level understanding of common Web UI patterns and style guides for Web and Mobile experiences
Well-versed in Sketch with experience in Adobe Creative Cloud and other design software (Principle, Figma, Zeplin, etc)
Expertise in UX flows, personas, research and best practices
Familiarity with User Testing
Critical thinker, highly detailed oriented and thrives in a fast paced environment
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Adept at managing your own time across multiple, concurrent running projects
Enjoys working collaboratively with fellow designers and developers
Working knowledge of standards for web assets (SVG usage, retina display support, aspect ratio, etc.)
Nice to have: animation/motion + illustration skills
Nice to have: HTML + CSS fundamentals
