Job Description
Operations Coordinators play a crucial role in supporting NOLS Rocky Mountain field courses and ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of logistics on campus. They assist in several departments to help students and faculty get ready to go into the field, they work on behind-the-scenes administrative tasks and projects, and they transport students and faculty needing medical care or other support. This position is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in a variety of operational departments at a bustling NOLS location!
What does an Operations Coordinator do?
Contribute to an environment that encourages instructors and students to feel relaxed, supported, and focused going into the field.
Drive students and faculty to road access points, regional airports, doctor’s visits, etc.
Drive to the Jackson Hole Airport to greet our younger students.
Rotate through an on-call schedule to support the evacuation department. Occasionally hike into the field to bring a student or supplies to a course.
Organize pre-course and end-of-course paperwork.
Record program and operations data into various computer databases.
Assist the Equipment Department by checking, cleaning, repairing, and maintaining outdoor gear and equipment.
Help students get ready to go on their expedition by issuing them gear and equipment.
Assist the rations (field food) department by packing food.
Repair, file, and organize maps.
Load, transport, and empty the various recycling bins on a regular basis.
Maintain a willingness to step into different roles and take on additional tasks.
This should not be considered an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities. Night and weekend work may be required on occasion.

Preferred: experience backpacking and familiarity with outdoor equipment.

This position is located on-site at our NOLS Rocky Mountain Campus in Lander, Wyoming, USA. Remote work is not possible.
