The Role
We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Qualifications with substantial qualification development expertise and experience of working within an Ofqual regulatory framework.In this core role, you’ll take responsibility for managing all aspects of developing new qualifications, managing Ofqual regulatory compliance and you’ll also have a close view into the operational maintenance and delivery of our existing qualifications.
The Person
As an exceptional communicator, you will engage with a variety of senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, including a range of subject matter experts, our Exams & Education Committee and our broader stakeholder firms.
Your strong organisational skills allow you to work within project budgets and timeframes, integrating with wider business operations. Your proactive approach enables you to anticipate and address project challenges pragmatically, all while adhering to the Society’s governance framework.
Your Key ResponsibilitiesThe Head of Qualifications role encompasses end-to-end project management and you’ll be accountable for driving deliverables through the development, launch and ongoing qualification lifecycle, from qualification scoping to successful qualification delivery.
You will be responsible for the yearly Ofqual self-evaluation process, appointment of our Ofqual external auditor and regular progress reporting.
Working with others:
· Collaborate with the Director of Education, Qualifications and Operational Oversight Manager and Learning Materials Manager in any new qualification development
· Collaborate with the Director of Education in planning the timing and scope of the yearly Ofqual external audit and self-evaluation process
· Collaborate with other internal stakeholders such as Chief Operating Officer and other Directors
· Line management of the Qualifications and Operational Oversight Manager
· Attend and contribute to:
Exams and Education Committee bi-monthly meetings
Exam Panel meetings as appropriate
Chief Operating Officer monthly meetings
CFA UK Events such as new Charterholder reception
Essential Skills and Expertise:
· Effective Communicator: Highly skilled at building relationships both internally and externally. Confident in talking to subject matter expert volunteers and other stakeholders and engaging in subject matter content
· Qualification development: expertise in researching new strategic opportunities for qualifications and associated scoping and development of new qualifications within an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation
· Volunteer management: forming and managing working groups and panels of subject matter expert volunteers and other stakeholders to enable qualification development
· Assessment design and development: expertise in designing and developing computer-based assessments involving a range multiple choice question types, including question commissioning, question review and standard setting
· Psychometric analysis: a solid grasp of key psychometric performance indicators
· Ofqual compliance: experience of working within an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation and a good grasp the regulatory framework.
Essential Experience· Minimum 5+ years in qualification development within an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation
Desirable Experience
· Developing qualifications with the financial services sector generally and specifically in the investment sector
· Managing the Ofqual annual self-evaluations and Statement of Compliance submission
· Managing and enhancing internal processes and procedures
· Researching strategic opportunities for qualification development
