We were established by the Equality Act 2006 and our role is to protect and promote equality and human rights across England, Scotland and Wales. Our Vacancy

We are now looking for someone exceptional to join our evidence team who shares our values of fairness, dignity and respect and can work with us to build upon our achievements and ensure our vision becomes a reality.

 The evidence team develops and maintains the evidence base that informs the Commission’s work uncovering, understanding and monitoring progress on the biggest equality and human rights challenges in society today. This is a chance to work as a research professional across varied high-profile equality and human rights issues, in the heart of a dynamic and impactful organisation.

 Our recent research has explored major social challenges such as racism in universities, the gender pay gap and the impact of coronavirus on equality and human rights.

 This role is critical in supporting the Commission to build its robust evidence base and maintain its reputation as a ‘centre of excellence’. The successful candidate will ensure robust and accurate research and analysis underpins the Commissions’ work and provide intellectually rigorous advice to internal colleagues and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

We are recruiting for a Senior Associate: Research Manager, to join the team.. Reporting to the Principal Research, you will

  •  Scope and design robust and effective research projects to develop the Commission’s evidence base.

  • Commission, lead and contribute to the delivery of research and analysis to support Commission strategic objectives.

  • Provideanalytical and methodological advice and guidance to colleagues across the Commission’s functions

  • Liaise and collaborate with internal and external partners to disseminate the findings from the Commission’s research  

What we are looking for

You will hold a postgraduate level degree in humanities or social sciences with a strong research component, or undergraduate level degree with equivalent experience gained in the workplace

You will have the ability to define appropriate research questions and evaluate and decide between qualitative and quantitative methodologies to appropriately meet research questions.  You will manage and deliver externally commissioned research projects, review evidence, conduct analysis and write for external and internal audiences.  With an interest in equality and human rights you will have the capability to identify how research and analysis can contribute best to further the strategic objectives of the Commission.

 You will be assessed against our core skills (Leadership, Delivery Management and Stakeholder Engagement ) and the knowledge, skills and experience required for the role in the application form.
