So, we need more young people to realise there could be a future for them in engineering and technology. About the role
The Senior Careers Inspiration Manager will work across EngineeringUK and with the wider STEM community to lead our work to provide relevant, inspiring and accessible careers content, activities and resources that inspire more, and more diverse, young people to choose engineering, technician, tech and green careers. This will include: leading a cross-sector working group to develop STEM careers resources for a range of audiences; embedding an understanding of engineering and technology careers across all EUK Education activities for schools; ensuring careers guidance professionals and teachers understand the breadth of engineering and technology careers and pathways into them; and sharing careers expertise with stakeholders to support their activity. The role will include some line management.
The role is London based at the EngineeringUK offices at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN and will involve frequent / may involve some travel in the UK (amend as required). We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a minimum of 2 days (or 40%) a week in the office and core hours of 10am to 4pm.
Role responsibilities
· Leading the Careers Working Group that comprises representatives from a range of professional engineering institutions and other stakeholders, to
o develop, produce and promote engineering and technology focused STEM careers resources
o map out the careers guidance landscape, understand where key stakeholders are positioned within it and identify opportunities for collaboration/filling gaps in provision
o identify/exploit channels through which to reach target audiences
· Providing careers expertise to ensure understanding of engineering and technology careers and how to access them is clear and embedded across all EUK Education activities. This will include developing programme resources and may include some new programme development and delivery. Current activity includes:
o Leading the development and delivery of EUK Education’s careers activity at The Big Bang Fair
o Providing input to the development of the Big Bang at School and Blueprint programmes, including delivery at events as required
o Providing input to the ongoing development/iteration of
§ the Climate Schools Programme
§ Energy Quest
o Reviewing and updating the Meet the Future You Quiz
o Contributing to new programme development
· Developing networks and establishing/maintaining relationships with relevant careers education/professional bodies across the UK to ensure those working in careers education, information, advice and guidance understand the breadth of engineering and technology and the pathways into careers in these sectors. This may include developing content and/or activities for these audiences
· Sharing careers expertise with stakeholders (including our Corporate Members, STEM outreach providers and Professional Engineering Institutions), supporting their understanding of the UK schools careers landscape, developing and sharing good practice and supporting with their engineering and technology careers content development
· Contributing to the development of policy recommendations relating to delivery challenges in STEM careers education, in collaboration with the policy and public affairs team
· Working in line with EngineeringUK values and support achievement of our organisational objectives
· Undertaking any training and development as required for the role
· Any other duties and tasks as directed and required by your line manager

Person specification
Essential skills/competencies
· Experience working in a careers education/guidance role, ideally in (or directly with) a school, college, careers hub, apprenticeship provider and/or employer
· Good understanding of the UK careers landscape and an existing network within it
· Understanding of the policy environment around careers education
· Knowledge of engineering and technology careers, the routes into those for young people and the channels via which to reach young people with careers information
· Strong project management skills
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to write for a range of audiences
· A collaborative approach, bringing stakeholders together to co-create and work in partnership to achieve our vision
· Commitment to testing and improving the impact of work
· At least two years line management experience
· Commitment to our mission and values, you will be able to engage with our values and work in a way that supports our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
Education/level of experience
· Careers guidance qualification or equivalent professional experience
