Job Description

Do you have the experience to lead and passion to drive the future of cricket clubs and leagues across England and Wales?

Cricket clubs and leagues play a crucial role in the experience and enjoyment of around 2.5 million cricketers. 

As stewards of the game our aspiration is to support clubs in connecting communities and changing lives, all with the aim of inspiring generations to say: ‘Cricket is a Game for me’.

This exciting new position will play a crucial role in creating a strong vision to galvanise the game behind our “clubs of the future” concept, in turn leading the club and league network to ensure a unified game working in true partnership.

Key to our success is galvanising the hundreds of cricket clubs, leagues, and communities behind this plan to ensure the long-term health and prosperity of the recreational game across England and Wales.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • You will lead a project team to build a vision and framework for ‘clubs of the future’

  • Leading your team, you will be responsible for the implementation of ‘clubs of the future’ supporting County Cricket Boards staff to ensure scalable delivery

  • You will lead the strategy and oversee support of ECB Accredited Premier Leagues.

  • You will oversee the development of new and existing club and league support campaigns.

  • You will drive greater insight across our game and encourage the league network to meet to the needs of our players.

  • You will be tasked with creating a framework that connects our County Cricket Boards, Leagues and clubs to collaborate in supporting our family of cricket clubs

  • You will be responsive to the challenges and opportunities facing the league and club network

  • You will champion a diverse and inclusive league and club network.

  • You will be responsible for the creation of a scalable league affiliation process that enables greater adoption of national initiatives, systems and ECB policies and fosters local partnerships between leagues and County Cricket Boards.

  • You will oversee the development and adoption of the Safe Hands Management System.

  • You will ensure key stakeholder relationships such as the National Cricket Conference and associated bodies are maintained and progressed.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Visionary leadership and strong implementation skills

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to listen, understand, analyse and act on information accordingly

  • The ability to build transformational relationships with multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Instinctive leadership skills with a proven track record of influencing and managing people with and without reporting lines.

  • The ability to unify diverse teams of people to operate to one plan.

  • An adaptable working style with high levels of emotional intelligence.

  • A deep knowledge of the cricket network and challenges the game faces across different areas of England and Wales.

  • A contagious passion for cricket or recreational sport and a strong desire to add real value to people working in the game both professionally and voluntarily.

  • A “can do” attitude and a strong team player.

  • DBS/Safeguarding

 

 Previous Experience:

 

  • Experience within a leadership role across the sports or community sector

  • A proven track record of successful project management

  • Experience in negotiation and holding people to account

  • Previous experience in writing and delivering successful strategies with multiple stakeholder groups

  • Experience in managing and working to tight budgets and deadlines

  • Experience of managing multiple threads of work and the ability to ensure successful delivery of results
