Job Description
Are you a creative, dynamic marketer with a passion for storytelling and great content?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Marketing Manager to join our multi award-winning HarperNonFiction marcomms team.
HarperNonFiction is one the UK’s leading entertainment and lifestyle publishers home to some of the biggest names and bestselling brands in nonfiction, with authors including Jay Shetty, Peter Kay, Debbie Harry, Marcus Wareing, Adam Buxton, Sarah Rossi, Martin Kemp, Rachel Stevens and Alison Steadman. Complemented by our quality narrative imprint Mudlark and lifestyle imprint Thorsons, we have an eclectic, genre-defining list across memoir, music, sport, self-help, personal development, cookery, health & fitness and gift.
This is a new role at an exciting time of growth and change for us. You’ll design and implement integrated and strategic campaigns across our four publishing verticals and grow our lists and brands through entrepreneurial and creative thinking. The successful candidate will be a senior voice in the HarperNonFiction Marcomms team, bringing their knowledge of the market and prior marketing experience to deliver outstanding campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
As Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for planning and executing your own integrated and innovative marketing campaigns, that will reach and engage readers and drive sales across a wide variety of author brands.
We are looking for someone who:
Is an excellent communicator able to lead campaigns and collaborate creatively with a wide variety of stakeholders both internal and external to the business.
Is a creative, commercial and strategic thinker who is comfortable using consumer insight and market knowledge to produce best-in-class campaigns with real impact.
Is ROI-focused, able to effectively measure results and evaluate campaigns, and share learnings with wider team and stakeholders.
Enjoys keeping up-to-date with the latest trends, news, media and wider cultural landscape.
Is a team-player, looking to share their learnings with the wider marcomms team in order to foster a culture of shared learning.
Will become a senior marketing voice in meetings including contributing to and attending pitches for new acquisitions with agents and authors
Has a proven track record delivering digital excellence across a variety of online platforms, both organic and paid.
Has a clear and demonstrable understanding of the importance of social platforms and how to engage followers around our titles through great content.
Is excited by and alive to the opportunities of working with new brand partners creatively to expand our reach.
Enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced commercial environment, able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise with confidence.
Clear and demonstrable understanding of the growing importance of digital optimisation across online retail channels.
Has an active interest in campaigns from across the book industry as well as the wider entertainment and media sector.
Skills Required
Creative flair with best-in-class social asset and digital content creation
Strong organisation, communication and prioritisation skills
A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders
An understanding of the commercial book market and book buyer
Strong marketing skills across the full marketing mix
Experience working in a busy marketing, campaigns or communications department
Proactive with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Excellent understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms
Data-driven and results focused
