Job Description
PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to ensure that umpires in England and Wales are given every opportunity to maximise their potential, with specific focus on National Panel umpires, women umpires and umpires selected into the ECB talent development programme. The role holder will be expected to play a key role in influencing increased diversity in the umpiring workforce.

YOU’LL BE DOING
Contributing to developing a world class officiating programme which inspires the next generation of officials, whilst ensuring a diverse workforce is promoted through a culture of inclusivity, fairness and transparency.
Identifying umpires with the potential to progress to the professional umpires’ team and appropriately managing their development.
Developing and implementing a competency-based training and development programme for National Panel umpires.
Appointing National Panel umpires to professional and National Counties cricket in England and Wales, providing opportunities primarily on the basis of performance and potential.
Being operationally responsible for the performance measurement of National Panel umpires.
Putting in place effective administration processes to support National Panel umpires.
Establishing relevant competencies and lead the selection, annually, of recreational umpires to the National Panel.
Leading the ECB’s national umpire talent development programme.
Working with the Regional Officiating Development Officers (RODOs) to ensure the umpires in the talent development programme are supported by appropriately skilled developers.
Providing regular, needs based training content for the RODOs and their teams to deliver to umpires in the talent development programme.
Overseeing the selection of umpires to the national development programme.
Ensuring a pipeline of women umpires capable of officiating in women’s professional cricket.
In collaboration with the Professional Umpires Operation and Development Manager, managing the appointment and development of women umpires officiating professional cricket.
In collaboration with the Senior Manager for Recreational Officiating, identifying and appointing umpires to ECB pathway events and competition.

Of how to establish structures that allow for the development of skills and attributes.
Of the way in which cricket is structured.
Experience
As a sports match official.
Of managing and developing remote teams.
Of operating in a high development environment.
Of evaluating and managing the performance of others .
Of designing and delivering training programmes.
Of coaching/mentoring others in a high development environment.
Of working with a diverse range of people to ensure they can reach their potential.
