Job Description

PURPOSE

The Communications Manager will play an integral cross-function role in delivering internal communications and engagement initiatives, as well as supporting the Comms Team on campaign work.

This role – part of the Media & Communications team - will have a central, cross-function remit supporting several departments to amplify their work, including the People Team, as well as working closely with other disciplines across the business such as events, EDI, participation & growth, digital and marketing.

We are seeking a proactive self-starter who can be the eyes and ears of employees across the various office-based locations (Lord’s, Edgbaston, Old Trafford, and Loughborough), as well as remote workers, to work with the Comms Lead - Planning and Strategy to translate these insights into actionable comms and engagement plans.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Working with the Comms Lead – Planning and Strategy, to operationalise and deliver proactively on the Comms strategy. 

  • Content Creation across internal comms and the network:

    • Create engaging and informative content for various channels in a timely manner.     

    • Play a supporting role in the editorial taskforce team to:

    • Identify and deliver impactful storytelling from across the organisation / network

    • Provide crisis comms support during challenging situations.

    • Work closely with the People Team to translate HR content into accessible and engaging communications.

 

  • Employee Engagement Initiatives:

    • Support the delivery of employee engagement initiatives / activities / events that bring the workforce together and promote a positive workplace culture.

Wider Comms Team Support

  • Support the Media Team on developing and managing events, roundtables, partnerships and briefings.

  • Provide senior team members with campaign delivery support to promote events including England Women, The Hundred and wider cricket attendance initiatives.

  • The development of written materials including press releases, newsletters, blogs and website features

 

  • Insight & Measurement:

    • Manage the effectiveness of internal communication and engagement initiatives through data analysis and regular reporting.

    • Proactively share industry trends, competitor activity and emerging technologies that could play a role in delivering effective internal communication and employee engagement initiatives.

 

  • Channel and Content Management:

    • Be the gatekeeper of the overarching content and inclusion calendars, proactively keeping them up-to-date and using them as central planning grids to coordinate and streamline comms, particularly across the editorial taskforce team.

    • Oversee the management of relevant communication channels, particularly The Middle (company intranet), Yammer, internal comms emails, CEO fortnightly bulletin, ECB Lives and Curious Abouts, as well as the Raising The Game Bulletin (EDI) to the game.

    • Ability to apply brand guidelines, communications principles, and tone of voice appropriately across all relevant channels.

 

  • Collaboration & Coordination:

    • Become an established cross-function partner and the ‘go to’ for all internal communication and employee engagement initiatives / ideas / feedback.

    • Proactively partner teams and be regularly present at all offices to mine for stories and insights. Be in the know on local initiatives and work across teams to ensure internal comms representation across the four office-based locations.

 

  • Budget Management:

    • Support the Comms Strategy & Planning Lead in managing the internal communication and engagement budget efficiently, aligned to the overarching planning grid and wider organisational objectives.
