Job Description

Come and be part of our award-winning Marketing and PR team at Farshore, home to TikTok sensations including Holly Jackson’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, modern classics including Lemony Snicket and Michael Morpurgo, and the world’s most loved brands including Mr Men Little Miss and Winnie-the-Pooh.

As Marketing and Publicity Assistant you will join Farshore’s friendly, supportive and inclusive Marketing and PR team. The role will assist with campaigns designed to drive profitable sales, strengthen key author brands, and successfully launch debut books.

The Assistant will provide significant administrative support, ensuring the smooth running of all marketing and publicity campaigns, as well as providing creative input where necessary. The role will help to develop highly creative consumer campaigns across physical, digital and audio products.

This role is ideally suited to an organised and detail-focused candidate who has bags of creativity, initiative and energy. We are looking for someone with a passion for PR and marketing, who is looking to kick start their career in the publishing sector.

Key tasks and accountabilities

  • Co-ordinate submissions for all national and regional children’s book awards, overseen by Press Officer.

  • Monitor and record press coverage, including compiling coverage reports as required.

  • Co-ordinate and send regular mailings for press and influencers, including for key seasonal moments e.g. Easter, Halloween, Christmas.

  • Manage submissions for the monthly Children’s Previews in The Bookseller (publishing industry magazine).

  • Support with high-profile events, including planning, logistics and accompanying authors, including at festivals, schools, launches and tours.

  • Support the marketing and PR team on a range of tasks for agreed key marketing and publicity campaigns including influencer outreach, media pitching, event planning, print & digital advertising, amazon advertising, social media and email marketing

  • Complete key admin tasks including scheduling meetings, managing file sharing, mailings, managing stock in our mailing house, setting up suppliers, monitoring the general inbox and dealing with enquiries

  • Create and schedule social media posts for key campaigns and provide support to the Marketing & PR teams across all Farshore social media channels

  • Support the Marketing Executive on the development of the Farshore Stocklist, including co-ordinating teams and approvals

  • Assist with updates, maintenance, and content creation for the Farshore website

  • Help to create presentations, where necessary, for internal presentations and author meetings

Skills required

  • Administrative experience

  • Knowledge or understanding of social media platforms

  • Digital marketing knowledge

  • Microsoft programmes

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Research

  • Great attention to detail

  • Strong eye for design

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
