Job Description

Designer - all levels considered

HarperCollins are looking for a talented Designer to join the creative team responsible for Fiction, Avon and Non-Fiction covers. While publishing experience is not essential the successful candidate will need to have a strong portfolio that demonstrates a creative approach to a range of briefs.

The role will involve creating covers across our Fiction, Avon and Non-Fiction divisions, from brief to production ready files. You will also be expected to support the day to day duties of the department in producing any additional assets required e.g. for the marketing department­­. In addition, there will be opportunities to work on integrated, colour books should you be interested in developing your skills further.

Responsibilities

  • Design market-leading covers for a range of titles, across the Fiction, Avon and Non-Fiction divisions.

  • Support the day to day activities within the department, producing additional assets as and when required.

  • Establish regular communication with the Studio Manager to ensure workflow is manageable.

  • Work closely with the Deputy Art Director and Creative Director to ensure quality solutions to briefs are delivered on time and on budget.

Essential Qualifications/Experience/Skills

  • A portfolio that demonstrates a creative, versatile approach to design.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Photoshop and Indesign.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work to deadlines.

  • Comfortable working on own initiative.

  • Good attention to detail.

  • Creative and enthusiastic team player.

  • Proactive and personable.

  • Resilient and able to take feedback/direction from others.
