Job Description
We are looking for a Royalties Team Member to join our Finance Team in our Glasgow office. You will play an integral part in ensuring the accurate management and distribution of royalties to our esteemed authors and affiliates. This position is perfect for individuals who possess a keen eye for detail and a passion for publishing. Fluency in German is essential for this role. Key Tasks and Accountabilities
Check Contract Terms
Interpret contractual information and compare against the royalty system
Accounts Payable
Payment of advances and earnings
Post adjustments to author accounts
Pay out ‘on hold’ royalty payments
Maintain author records including estates and changes to payment information
Analyse/Research Rejected Sales
Investigate reasons for sales rejections by checking contractual terms and querying various systems
Fix rejections and confirm recalculations
Link titles to contracts
Royalty Statement Review
Work with our affiliates in reviewing royalty statements to ensure accuracy
Amend statements as required
Produce various royalty reports required for the calculation of royalties
Business Queries
Respond to various queries from our affiliates and authors surrounding royalty statements/reports and payments
Daily/Monthly Controls
Aid the royalty accountants in reconciling of accounts on a weekly/monthly basis
Testing
Participate in testing of the royalty system for various patches and system updates
Other Responsibilities
Carry out ad hoc exercises as required
Skills Required
Fluent in German
Computer literate and confident with very strong Excel skills
Ability to multitask and manage multiple and varying projects and tasks
Excellent problem solving and organisational skills with strong attention to detail
Able to provide exceptional service to our authors, clearly explain complex information in an understandable way
Ability to listen and accurately record information
Knowledge of the workings of a Royalty application would be an advantage
Experience Required
Recent customer service experience, preferably in finance or accounts payable
Broad/General experience within Finance function
Person Specification
Polite, professional, enthusiastic, and calm
Co-operative/helpful and able to establish good working relationships within the Royalty function, with other HarperCollins departments, and with authors/agents.
Able to deal with pressures of workload
