Job Description
PURPOSE
Accountant for the England and Wales Cricket Trust (EWCT), ECB’s wholly owned subsidiary charity, and Business Partner for recreational cricket departments. You will work closely with several internal departments and 39 County Cricket Boards to support the finance function to the recreational game in England and Wales.

YOU’LL LOVE THIS JOB IF

YOU’LL BE DOING
EWCT accountant (responsible for monthly management accounts, budgeting and variance reporting using NetSuite and statutory year-end financial reporting/audit).
Business Partner to the Participation and Growth department (with a project accountant based at Edgbaston providing support to membership services), the Facilities team and other departments as required, including budgeting.
Treasury management for EWCT’s investment portfolio including computation of cash flow forecasts, liaising with institutions on banking rates and placing deposits with the relevant institutions.
Financial control of internally funded capital grants schemes and the Sport England funded capital grant schemes, ensuring that the funding is accounted for in line with stringent accounting and reporting requirements.
Payment administration for grants.
Financial management of the EWCT £10m interest free loan scheme. This includes reviewing Clubs for credit-worthiness, processing and monitoring loan payments and reporting summary information.
Finance team’s first point of contact for County Cricket Boards.
Sport England finance contact for ECB (relationship management, delegated responsibility for self-assurance return, quarterly reporting on finances including liaison with the internal budget-holders, input into ECB’s group accounts).
Oversee Recreational Cricket Insurance programme.
Responsibility for company risk register and maintaining this is up to date with market trends.
Ad hoc
Financial projects as required. Recent examples include sustainability reporting, systems updates and work alongside the Commercial Department to implement the #FundsForRuns project.
YOU’LL HAVE
A newly qualified accountant with accounting qualification: ACA or equivalent.
Proven experience with strong technical knowledge, and extensive experience of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
Experience with preparing management and regulatory financial statements, period end close processes, and auditor liaison.
Knowledge of charity SoRP accounting and/or the sports sector (desirable).
Essential – excellent MS Excel skills including analysis and bespoke calculators/financial models as required.
Preferred – knowledge of financial systems, in particular NetSuite and Concur.
Sound decision making skills, with strong business acumen.
