Job Description

PURPOSE

The Head of Coach Development will be a key role in ensuring England & Wales is the most respected nation in World Cricket. Developing and leading the delivery of an ambitious vision and strategy for coaching across England & Wales will ensure coaches and leaders across all levels of the game - men's and women's, adults and junior - can access world class learning and development opportunities.  

Reporting into the Performance Director – England Men’s Cricket, the Head of Coach Development will lead a team of coach development experts to work collaboratively with the wider cricket network to raise the profile and impact of coaching across all levels of the game.

Through evolution of the system and embracing innovation, there will be a focus on lifelong learning, bespoke support for those with high potential and access to opportunity regardless of background.

The role offers a rare opportunity to positively influence the long-term future of cricket by encouraging a people-centred approach and customising delivery in line with contemporary practices.

YOU'LL BE DOING

Strategic

  • Refine, deliver and embed an ambitious ECB strategy to support coaches and leaders across the game.

  • Develop an understanding of how coaching will adapt to support the rapid evolution of the game at every level (elite, international and recreational)  

  • Understand and embed a range of learning environments and tools that will support the ongoing development of coaches.

  • Embrace modern and innovative learning theory to inform impactful development of coaches across domains.

  • Ensure there is a coherent, accessible and diverse coaching pathway, which is accessible to people from all backgrounds and delivers for participants across all levels of the game.

Leadership

  • Lead the strategy, people and programmes within the Coach Development department and manage all associated budgets (allocating resource to high priority areas).

  • Ensure Coach Development is integrated and influencing all areas of the organisation.

  • Identifying and developing a diverse group of high-performing coaches / leaders at all levels of the game.

Communication

  • Establish meaningful and impactful relationships across the game to deliver an ambitious strategy for coaching.

  • Ensure the impact of coaching and coach development is felt across the recreational, proffessional and international levels of the game.

  • Optimise the development of insight to inform the future direction of coaching and establish key measures of progression against an ambitious strategic plan.

YOU'LL HAVE

Experience

  • Proven track record of implementing a learning and development strategy that has delivered sustained positive results.

  • Experience of working in a senior leadership role and has inspired positive change.

  • Experience of monitoring the impact of a learning and development strategy and evolving strategy within a progressive and dynamic environment.

Knowledge

  • Contemporary knowledge of learning theories, environments and tools.

  • Track record of applying modern learning techniques into a professional environment.

  • Knowledge of coaching and coach development in a sporting environment would be highly desirable.
