Job Description
We’re introducing this exciting role to provide vision, direction, strategy and operational leadership to the England Men’s Performance Science & Medicine department, to ensure that England Cricket creates and retains competitive advantage, and that all players on England programmes are optimally prepared to train and perform.
Indicative timings for process:

YOU’LL BE DOING
Lead and inspire the department, setting the vision for how performance science and medicine functions can enhance the development and performance of England players and teams.
Lead, line-manage and develop performance science and medicine functions and direct reports (full-time, part-time and consultant), and support the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Panel’s management of clinical care, welfare and governance.
Work closely with the Performance Director, England men’s head coaches and selectors to ensure high quality performance planning and review.
Inform performance decision-making of the Performance Director, England men’s head coaches and selectors.
Oversee the delivery of integrated projects, processes and problem-solving groups for England teams and the pathway.
Work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Panel to support clinical teams providing expert judgment and decision-making related to physical and mental wellness.
Ensure expert physical preparation and management of England players and teams (including physiotherapy, strength & conditioning and nutrition), both on and off programme.
Ensure staff, systems and processes are in place to provide expert psychological preparation and management of players and staff, both on and off programme.
Ensure that insights gained from performance analysis deliver competitive advantage.
Recruit and optimally deploy performance science and medicine resources to England teams, pathway programmes and players in-county.
Contribute to department business planning and ensure accurate and timeline management of performance science and medicine finances.
Provide leadership and strategic direction for the men’s elite domestic structure and the men’s Hundred competition.
Ensure close working relationships with Women’s Science & Medicine teams and pathways.
Contribute towards raising the standard of performance science and medicine across the county game, through the delivery of the annual audit and County Partnership Agreement.
Initiate and oversee impactful research and innovation projects, working closely with the ECB Duty of Care Team.
Ensure that performance science and medicine impact is augmented through the use of innovative technological solutions.
Oversee the technical content of ECB coach and practitioner development programmes.
YOU’LL HAVE
Extensive experience and demonstrable achievements as a leader in elite sport.
Current professional accreditation/license in a performance science or medicine discipline.
Post graduate degree in a performance science or medicine discipline.
Excellent knowledge regarding the development, preparation and performance of elite athletes.
Sound understanding of the demands of international cricket.
High level management skills, in relation to people, systems and processes.
Ability to process complex information and make robust recommendations and decisions.
