Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the multi-award-winning marketing team at HQ. Specialising in commercial fiction, non-fiction and digital publishing, HQ is a young, ambitious and award-winning imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. At HQ we launch debuts and develop new talent, build brand authors and publish Sunday Times bestselling authors, with our stellar list including Louise Candlish, Linwood Barclay, Erica James, Sarah Morgan, Adele Parks, Caroline Hirons, Katy Brent, Kia Abdullah, Imad Al Arnab and more.
Introduction to the role
As Digital Marketing Executive, you will be responsible for planning and implementing your own campaigns, across our HQ Digital list, as well as providing support to other team members on some of our biggest brand author campaigns. You’ll work closely with team to implement activity for HQ social channels, including content creation and implementation, and you will manage some key external relationships and represent the team both externally and within the wider business. The Role:
Campaign Management
Deliver innovative, creative and targeted marketing activity for titles on the HQ Digital list, to include briefing and creating marketing assets, planning organic social media activity, and running and reviewing paid-for social media advertising
Support members of the marketing team across HQ brand campaigns, working as a team across larger campaigns to deliver creative effective marketing campaigns for brand authors, exciting debuts and launch titles.
Adhere to the critical path in delivering marketing requirements in timely way through the publishing process
Create or brief appropriate marketing materials, and ensure that they are produced on time & in accordance with business needs
Measure and evaluate campaigns, sharing learnings and optimising for future activity
Actively seek new trends and platforms and be informed about new digital marketing insights and opportunities
Contribute to the development and implementation of social media accounts, campaigns and communities
Proactively contribute to team brainstorms and creative planning
Undertake campaign admin support as required, such as setting up competitions, uploading amazon A+ images, creating landing pages and sending out competition prizes as required
Digital and Social Strategy
Support the marketing team with planning and scheduling social media content, across all platforms, including TikTok, in accordance with the divisional content calendar
Support with planning, writing, and scheduling newsletters
Create content for author newsletters as required
Work with authors to provide social media advice and support as required
Use data to inform decisions, monitor ROI, share learnings and deliver results
Experience and skills required:
Experience in a trade publisher marketing, campaigns or communications department, especially with experience of working on digital / ebook / audiobook campaigns
Good understanding of social media platforms across paid and organic activity, including emerging platforms such as TikTok
Experience of planning, developing and implementing digital marketing campaigns
Experience in social media content creation
Copywriting proficiency across all areas of the marketing mix
An excellent communicator able to build relationships quickly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Someone who enjoys reading widely across commercial fiction, with a keen eye on emerging trends across commercial genres
Someone with an active interest in digital marketing trends from across the book industry as well as the wider entertainment and media sector
Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills
Creativity essential!
Proficiency using social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, across paid and organic activity
Experience using platforms such as Wordpress, Canva, Photoshop and InDesign
Knowledge of scheduling tools and content management systems desirable
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written skills
Thrives in a fast-paced environment
Understanding of the commercial book market and book buyer
Your first six months:
During your first six months in the role you will have:
Planned and executed digital marketing campaigns, within budget and to deadline
Created and briefed design across a wide range of media
Delivered on all elements of marketing campaigns including advertising, partnerships, sell-in materials, proofs, copywriting and social media marketing
Further developed an understanding of Metadata and digital publishing skills
Created and optimised social media advertising campaigns across a number of digital platforms
Created organic content across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
Used data to inform decisions, monitor ROI, share learnings and deliver results
Measured and evaluated campaigns, sharing learnings and optimising for future activity
Driven audience development for key authors, brands and titles
Built strong relationships with colleagues, authors, agents and other external stakeholders
Built strong blogger and influencer relationships to help maximise all communications opportunities
Identified and developed new and existing third party partnerships to amplify campaign activity
