Job Description

Purpose of the Role:                          

This is an excellent position in our Irish office, providing support for the Irish Sales Director within the sales team.  The role will require an extremely high level of organisation and initiative, as well as an ability to rapidly acquire a high level of competency on company systems and confident use of Microsoft Office applications.  Most of all we’re looking for personable, bright individual!

The role offers a clear career path into account management.  It’s a real opportunity for gaining an unmatched insight into the book market, the Irish retail landscape, and the workings of an extremely successful publishing house.  The position involves customer-facing opportunities, as well as being an important internal role. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Irish Sales Director. 

  • Distribute advance samples / proofs to retailers.

  • Generate Territory sales reports

  • Create internal and external quarterly presentations

 Admin

  • Create and organise 4/6 monthly customer presentations (in PowerPoint or other formats) and one off customer presentations so that customers are proactively and efficiently sold to e.g. for Key Customers and Independents Bookshops etc

  • Answer customer queries quickly and effectively

  • Keep effective records of all orders and deals so the business is able to review its customers and address issues rapidly

  • Process customer orders in a clear and timely manner, liaising with Glasgow distribution, credit control and customer services to ensure the effective distribution of orders so that invoices may be raised and books despatched in the business’ best interests

  • Order up samples

  • Assist with author signings

  • Raise any required marketing PO’s

  • Generate monthly order forms and sales kits

 Customer

  • Sell to specialist’s accounts and booksellers etc

  • Reserve stock for customers

  • Cover accounts for other team members where necessary

Experience

  • Experience of utilising Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong commercial awareness

  • Sales experience desirable but not essential

  • Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbally

  • Professional, reliable, able to work quickly under pressure and use own initiative

  • Effective team player
