Job Description

To work as part of the ECB Safeguarding case management team to deliver high quality safeguarding investigations and case management across the cricket network.

YOU’LL LOVE THIS JOB IF:

  • You want to apply your existing experience and knowledge in safeguarding to support the ECB in its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and Adults at Risk in cricket.

  • You have experience of completing high quality safeguarding investigations or assessments and want to apply this knowledge to safeguarding in sport.

  • You enjoy the challenge of managing a varied caseload in a busy team. 

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Completing high quality investigations into safeguarding concerns regarding those participating in cricket. 

  • Managing a caseload to ensure the efficient and timely completion of case investigations in line with the ECB Safeguarding Complaints and Disciplinary Policy.

  • Interviewing witnesses to incidents and allegations, including those subject to allegation.

  • Liaising appropriately and effectively with safeguarding partners and other stakeholders in line with relevant statutory frameworks. 

  • Supporting the implementation of decisions taken by the ECB Referral Management Group.

  • Supporting the vetting of those involved in Regulated Activity in cricket in line with the ECB’s safer recruitment processes. 

  • Contributing to the development of policy and procedure relating to the safeguarding of children and adults at risk across the cricket network. 

  • Undertaking other tasks as may be required to ensure the effective running of the ECB Safeguarding  team.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Significant experience of completing safeguarding investigations or assessments in relation to children and adults at risk within a statutory or sports environment.

  • Experience of working within statutory safeguarding frameworks and legislation, including the management of allegations against those working with children or adults at risk.

  • Knowledge and experience of implementing data protection legislation and guidance in relation to highly confidential material. 

  • Experience of working alongside a volunteer workforce.

  • Experience and understanding of safer recruitment practice. 

  • A clear understanding of the importance of high-quality safeguarding investigations to the reputation of the ECB as the National Governing Body for cricket.

  • Emotional resilience and ability to use supervision effectively.

  • A UK driving licence, access to a car and the ability to travel across England and Wales, including overnight stays.

  • IT skills to support case management including:  word processing, spreadsheets, PDF documents, database and online meeting applications. 

  • A valid (enhanced) DBS
