Job Description
As Challenge Event Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for project delivery of high-profile fundraising challenges as part of the Sport Relief 2020 campaigns. You will matrix manage internal project teams and manage relationships with external delivery partners to coordinate all aspects of challenges both during the planning phase and throughout the live event on the ground.
Key responsibilities:
Lead project teams of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure all aspects of the challenge are delivered effectively and against objectives
Actively manage the day to day relationship with external delivery partners to ensure safe and successful development and delivery, this could include integration of external media broadcast outlets or television production companies
Work with stakeholders to develop the event plans, logistics, risk assessments, live content requirements and content delivery (e.g. logistics of film crews, photographers)
Monitor event plans and resource allocation throughout the life-cycle to ensure they are adapting to changing circumstances and new opportunities
Create and manage the challenge budget; ensure spend is monitored, controlled and reported, and identify and leverage opportunities for blagging to aid low cost delivery
Work with the internal fundraising and corporate partnerships team to maximise income across all celebrity challenge events
Ensure appropriate health & safety and risk management considerations are incorporated into and actively managed during the challenge
Work with stakeholders to develop and review comprehensive crisis management plans
Build and maintain relationships with kit suppliers, ensuring each relationship remains mutually beneficial
Manage the branding of the challenge and kit with input and approval from BBC Editorial Policy, Marketing, Creative & Corporate & delivery partner
Monitor, share and evaluate delivery, capture lessons learnt and make recommendations for future improvements
Essential Education and Competencies:
Strong experience of project management in high pressure environments with proven ability to deliver on time and on budget
Demonstrable experience of planning and execution of high profile live events
Collaborative worker – able to work closely with all teams and communicate effectively
Effective relationship builder with strong stakeholder management skills
Resilient – with the ability to stay the course during the height of delivery
