Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the nutritional support for the England Men’s Pathway Teams across the winter period. The role will involve direct camp support for the England Men’s Lions team, and indirect support of the England Men’s teams.

This role is a set number of 70 consultancy working days from September 2022 through to March 2023.

YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Work with the Science and Medicine and Operations teams to support performance through developing and implementing nutritional services. 

  • Support the men’s pathway teams including the England Lions on training camps and overseas tours. 

  • Indirectly support the England Men’s senior teams, with some direct player support as identified, and necessary.

  • Lead on the catering and supplement provision across the winter period, including the planning and implementation of menus and supplements for all men’s teams.

  • Actively promote the role of food to enhance performance, working closely with catering and operations managers, to ensure the food provision whilst training and touring is optimal for all men’s teams.

  • Work within the science and medicine team, aligning with other disciplines, to support identified players, screening and monitoring, injury and illness, and travel strategies.

  • Ensure that the delivery of nutrition support effectively meets the objectives and commitments of athletes, coaches and England Men’s Cricket.

  • Work with coaches and support staff in determining appropriate methods of implementing the overall programme of nutrition service.

  • Work within the rules of professional confidentiality, liaise with players, primary care managers, coaches and other support staff as appropriate within the rules of the SENr Code of Conduct, standards and guidelines.

  • Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with players and coaches on the ECB record keeping system, including detailed records of work done with individual players.

  • Maintain a comprehensive indexed database of supplements provided to all individual players and teams

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Nutrition, Sports Science, Dietetics or related subject

  • Higher degree (IOC diploma in sports nutrition or PG Cert/Dip/Masters in Sports Nutrition or a related subject.

  • Graduate or Professional (preferred) on Sports and Exercise Nutrition registe

  • ISAK Level 1 Accreditation

  • Anti-Doping Clean Sport Advisor

  • A minimum of 3 year’s post graduate experience as a practicing registered sports nutritionist or dietitian 

  • A minimum of 3 years’ post graduate experience in the provision of nutritional support to athletes and coaches in an elite sporting environment

  • Experience of analysing the demands of a team sport in relation to their nutrition needs in order to develop, implement and evaluate nutrition programmes for individual athletes within that sport

  • Experience of working with chefs and writing catering guidelines

  • A knowledge of cricket as a sport and experience of working within cricket

  • Budgetary management experience and appreciation of a cost-effective service delivery

  • A verifiable record of working within a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of performance nutrition support in elite sport

  • Experience of working with supplement partners and managing key stakeholder relationships 

  • Effectively translate nutrition science into practical food advice

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the use of nutrition supplements and ergogenic aids 

  • Understanding of the nutritional issues (performance and clinical) relevant to high performance sport

  • Knowledge of nutritional support appropriate to the needs of high-performance athletes both in training and competition

  • An understanding of the various sports science and sports medicine disciplines

  • Ability to critically appraise scientific methodology and data

  • Ability to influence athletes and coaches to support programmes that impact on performance

  • Ability to communicate complex data in terms that are easily understood by a wide range of audiences

  • Good communication and presentation skills

  • An interest in sport and recognition of the importance of promoting and supporting equality, safeguarding and anti-doping within sport.

  • YOU’LL RECEIVE

  • £250-£300 day rate for all matches, training and screening days.

Please note that the dates required for overseas touring are: 

  • 6-28th November, 2022 – UAE camp 

  • 21st January – 19th February, 2023 – Sri Lanka competitive series 

  • Additional days will be required to support preparation and profiling days that will be identified (at a later date) prior to these two blocks.
