Job Description

Our Mills & Boon Marketing team are looking for a Marketing Assistant on a 12 month fixed term contract to work on and support innovative campaigns for the leading brand in romance publishing. The Marketing Assistant will provide campaign and administrative support to help the marketing team deliver measurable campaigns in line with the divisional strategy. They will also have the opportunity to feed ideas into, create content for and manage some of the social and online channels within the division.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of creative media and digital plans

  • Provide general administrative support for the department including social media scheduling and monitoring, managing the Mills & Boon blogger programme and coordinating blog tours, helping with digital campaigns and administration.

  • Liaise with key stakeholders within the division, Publicity and Editorial, to ensure they have the information they need

  • Work closely with other members of the marketing team, and manage elements of monthly campaigns where relevant

  • Develop creative social campaign plans to be implemented across our channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Stories), including video content

  • Identify opportunities for reactive marketing around seasonal and national moments, as well as authors/titles, and a creative flair to capture eye catching and appealing organic imagery for social

  •  Create content and manage the Mills & Boon blog, working closely with the global acquisitions team to deliver this

  • Work closely with the wider marketing communications team to ensure that the comms output is single minded and joined up

  • Assist the editor with day to day editorial work including prelim materials, metadata for the series books, compiling draft cover copy and assisting with the scheduling of M&B series books on a monthly basis

  • Support the entire Mills & Boon marketing and editorial team on activities ranging from author care to website maintenance, social media management, direct-to-consumer marketing, and author campaigns

Key Skills/Experience

  • A passion for commercial fiction – especially for romance and women’s fiction

  • Experience of managing, developing or creating a social and online presence, even if it is your own

  • Publishing or marketing experience would be a bonus, whether that’s work experience, experience as a bookseller or as part of a publishing society

  • A creative flair: experience with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and InDesign) is preferable but not essential

  • Enthusiasm! We want someone who wants to grab this opportunity with both hands and is keen to work in the publishing industry

  • A team player with excellent communication and people skills
