Position Title: Lower School PE Teacher (K-4)

FLSA Classification: Full time, exempt 2023

Reports To: Director of Lower School

Position Purpose: Teach Lower School General Studies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Planning and teaching a challenging and fun course of study in physical education in a developmentally appropriate manner, with an emphasis on differentiating instruction and using assessments effectively

• Coaching various sports

• Creating an inclusive classroom environment through supportive exchanges with students, clear expectations for community behavior, and a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

• Collaborating with other PE teachers to develop curriculum, plan programs and special events, and solve problems

• Working in partnership with the faculty at large to support/ implement a cohesive social, emotional, and spiritual curriculum 

• Working and communicating effectively with parents in person, through emails, and in newsletters

• Supporting and following the school policies and procedures

• Positively contributing to the professional community

Position Qualifications:

• BA and three years of experience in a similar position preferred

• Teaching credential preferred

• Ability to step in where needed at the school

• Must love children, have a ready smile and encouraging words

• Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Regularly sit, talk, run, move equipment, hear and visually interact with students  

• Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs

• Regularly use close and distance vision

• Work at a desk and computer screen 

• Turn, bend, reach and occasionally use a ladder

• Work in a traditional climate controlled office environment and outside in typical San Francisco weather

The salary range for this position is $70,441- $90,000 annually based on prior experience, education, and position requirements. Medical, dental, life, and long-term disability and retirement benefits are provided.
