Job Description
This role is offered on a hybrid contract giving you the opportunity to also work from home three days a week.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Appeals Assistant Producer will work alongside the Senior Producer and 2x Appeal Producers. This team is responsible for producing Appeal Films and supporting story content for output across the 2024 Red Nose Day Campaign and other Comic Relief related content.
You will work across all aspects of story researching and casting, support with contributor care, help organise filming, and write up stories. This involves co-pro working with BBC Studios, and co-pro/collaborative working with other teams at the BBC and internally at Comic Relief.
Key responsibilities:
To work on highly sensitive and targeted casting of contributors for stories.
Attend story-based content shoots. This may be as part of a larger team (CR or BBC Studios) or independently.
Carry out initial conversations with projects and possible contributors to gather stories an subsequently logging and transcribing those conversations.
Researching factual information, alongside colleagues within the organisation.
To work across setting up story gathering content with Appeal Producers and the Production Management teams in the UK and internationally.
Keep a good record of all conversations with projects and contributors in line with CR’s internal processes.
Writing first drafts of case studies and story synopses including key information.
Aiding with Safeguarding and sensitive story telling.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
Experience working in a broadcast environment.
Experience working to tight deadlines and ability to work under pressure and prioritise.
Knowledge of compliance and safeguarding, including experience of working with vulnerable people and from marginalised communities.
Highly organised with ability to multitask and work across more than one project simultaneously.
Excellent writing skills with a strong attention to detail – to produce work which is accurate and brand relevant.
Risk awareness: Maintaining a strong work ethic and awareness of the consequences of their work on the team and the wider Comic Relief brand.
Have strong communication and creative skills and be able to judge how to speak and interact with projects and individuals as well as Managing relationships with different stakeholders
Nice To Haves:
Experience working in a charity environment.
Experience working with/at the BBC.
Understanding of Red Nose Day campaign brand including Night of TV, challenges, and radio output.
Lived experience or professional experience working with marginalised communities.
