Job Description
Introduction to the role:
The Marcomms Executive will work closely with the Senior Marketing and Brand Manager and all members of the Marcomms team to implement digital strategies to grow and develop our audiences across all of our owned HCCB channels, plus our individual author brand channels. They will also support the Marcomms campaign team across marketing and publicity with the implementation of fully integrated and innovative campaigns. Our aims are to drive profit and growth across all brands, and we see understanding and engagement with our audience as absolutely key to our strategy.
We are looking for someone to deliver content plans created by the team to drive growth across all digital channels. Someone to work closely with the team to optimise types of content developed and shared, frequency of communication across all channels, and then to analyse effectiveness of various content. All the time reporting results and learnings back to the Senior Marketing and Brand Manager and the rest of the Marcomms team. We would expect this role to develop a keen understanding of how to use all aspects of the digital marketing landscape in order to grow our networks and to drive engagement and sales. This role will also play a key support role within the PR team around author events and awards and the delivery of both trade- and consumer-facing comms to support this activity.
Key tasks and accountabilities:
Create and deliver HCCB and Author brand newsletters in line with brand and campaign strategy, optimise performance and deliver growth
Deliver community management for HCCB and Author Brand channels in line with the established strategy and the content plan agreed with the team
Help to create and deploy content for the HCCB and Brand websites – in line with the strategy established by the team. Maintain the content on the websites, ensuring they are always engaging and up to date.
Optimise paid-social approach and campaigns – evaluate and communicate metrics; work with campaign owners to optimise
Improve discoverability – optimise metadata, SEO and PPC; demonstrate impact on conversion
Analyse the results of launched marketing initiatives and take learnings forward to drive improvements. Train, educate and empower team members accordingly
Develop HCCB’s strategy, presence and use of all digital channels including new platforms as they emerge
Implement and optimise ads across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Google and Amazon
Maintain gold standard of marketing in line with data laws and compliance
Supporting the Senior Marketing and Brand Manager on sustained brand campaigns, including anniversaries, brand-partnerships, backlist and range promotions
Opportunity to take ownership of distinct product launches and brand campaigns including stakeholder management, planning, implementation and reporting
Work with the Marcomms team to build and manage a list of trusted influencers, bloggers and media contacts
Work with the PR team on literary award submissions, schedule and implement delivery of comms to support any awards shortlisting or wins
At events where digital marketing initiatives can amplify reach and impact, be the key contact to collaborate with the PR team to ensure all digital needs and outputs are seamlessly achieved
Regular liaison with internal teams, including Analytics, Technology and Central Marketing
Experience required:
Work Experience in a Marketing or PR function, ideally at a publishing house
Experience of posting on digital marketing channels is ideal
Experience managing multiple, competing priorities in a team environment preferred
Previous experience or knowledge of the entertainment, arts or media industries
Skills required:
A passion for children’s books
A love of digital design and well-crafted copywriting
Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a forensic eye for detail
Problem-solving with strong analytical skills
Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative team player
Adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, changing environment
