Job Description

PURPOSE

We’re introducing this exciting role to support our ambition to become the most respected team in the world, underpinned by consistent performance in key series and ICC global tournaments. Working as part of the England Men's Science and Medicine team, the role will be responsible for ensuring England Men contracted players are best physically prepared and rehabilitated from injury, as well as preparing the future generation of international players through supporting our player pathway and development contracted players. This allows that our best team is available for selection and the players receive excellent support.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • You will be delivering physiotherapy and rehabilitation support to England contracted players from their home bases, working with the England Men’s Physiotherapy Lead and other Science and Medicine staff and strongly in collaboration with the players’ County Medical teams. This will include travel across the country to visit players when not directly servicing the England teams. This work requires completing satisfactory medical record-keeping, ensuring communication and correspondence to all stakeholders, and full documentation of rehab and return to play programs.

  • You will support England Lions and England Men’s series at home and overseas as required. This will be in rotation – and possibly overlapping for some key series - with the other England Men’s Physiotherapists. This will likely involve two overseas trips per winter. You may also be required to support high priority England players when they attend overseas franchise tournaments, such as the IPL.

  • You will support the England Men’s Physiotherapy Lead with the monitoring, profiling, and screening of England contracted players, including follow up directly with the player and communication with their County or Franchise club medical team.

  • You will contribute to the England Men’s Science and Medicine team conduct knowledge development projects individually and with others. Allowing us to ensure we continue to deliver up to date and excellent rehabilitation and preparation support.

  • You will support England Men’s Physiotherapy Lead with proactive and professional communication with County Science and Medicine colleagues, contribute to ECB led CPD events and other projects or activities that will strengthen our domestic system and promote excellence in Science and Medicine practice in Cricket in England and Wales.

  • You will attend ECB’s National Cricket Performance Centre as required to connect with your colleagues and deliver your key objectives above, as required

 

YOU’LL HAVE

  • The right to work in the UK

  • Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy, and preferably a Post Graduate degree in a relevant subject.

  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

  • Current membership with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP)

  • Current Advanced Trauma Management and Emergency Care accreditation

  • Up-to-date experience and expertise working within an elite sport environments as part of an MDT to service players needs and requirement

  • It would be desirable but not essential to have experience with Domestic and/or International cricket teams as a Physiotherapist to senior Professional players

  • Demonstrable high-quality physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation skills, including the injuries prevalent and specific to elite cricket

  • An understanding of team sport dynamics and the ability to thrive within a close knit team setting

  • Practical knowledge of injury surveillance and workload monitoring methods, specific to elite cricket

  • Excellent communication skills
