Job Description

PURPOSE

The England Women’s Senior Assistant coach is responsible for supporting the England Women’s Head Coach in preparing the England Women’s Cricket Team for international competition both at home and abroad. They also have responsibility for the continued improvement of all England Women cricketers, their player development programmes and the sustained success of the England Women’s team.

This role will lead the development of fast bowlers across the women’s game and ensure world leading support is provided to current and future England Women’s fast bowlers.

Please note that this role involves extensive national and international travel alongside the England Women’s team touring schedule.

YOU’LL LOVE THIS JOB IF

  • You have shown a real commitment to developing your own coaching skills and craft alongside a minimum Level 3 coaching qualification in cricket

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Providing support and assistance for the England Women’s Head Coach in fully preparing the England Women’s team.

  • Working closely with the Head Coach to develop a world class England Women’s cricket team which delivers sustained success through an empowering, engaging and inclusive player focussed environment.

  • Preparing, and supporting the delivery of, individual player development programmes.

  • Delivering individual coaching support and skill sessions to players where appropriate.

  • Establishing from the England Women’s Head Coach key knowledge requirements ahead of each series and working with the other assistant coaches and team analysts to provide necessary data support and tactics.

  • Work closely with the Regional Structure to effectively co-manage current and future England Women’s players

  • Working closely with medical and sports science staff to deliver high quality programmes for players

  • Undertaking tasks assigned by the England Women’s Head Coach in relation to all aspects of this role.

  • Playing a role in developing a high-performance culture both in the dressing room and on the pitch.

  • Offering advice to the captain and Head Coach on areas of team selection, strategy and performance.

  • Offering support and, where appropriate, mentoring to other coaches in the system.

  • Acting as a positive role model, ambassador and advocate for the sport, nurturing and developing positive relationships that will promote and support the long-term development of England Women’s cricket

YOU’LL HAVE

Knowledge

  • An in depth understanding of high performing environments within elite women’s sport

  • A deep understanding of fast bowling.

  • An expert in developing pathways and a broad understanding of evidenced based development environments

  • An understanding of the multi-disciplinary functions required to develop world leading development environments

  • An in depth knowledge of women’s domestic and international cricket

Experience

  • Proven track record of creating environments that ensure positive impact across different stages of a players journey

  • Clearly articulated examples of developing fast bowlers across multiple development and performance environments

  • Experience of engaging multiple stakeholders through a clearly articulated performance strategy

  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing people within a performance pathway

  • Working within a high performing environment within female team sport

Skills

  • An outstanding communicator with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to facilitate complex and diverse discussions that deliver impactful outcomes

  • Ability to manage a workforce with diverse skill sets and areas of expertise
