Job Description

Would you like to be at the heart of developing innovative and transformative ideas? Are you interested in being part of a team that identifies how space technology can address UK and global societal challenges? Do you want a People and Talent Administrator position which will make a real difference and offers huge opportunities for growth? If so, you may be who we’re looking for!

We are currently seeking a People and Talent Administrator to support and enable all the teams across the Catapult. Working collaboratively, you will provide excellent administrative support to the People Team ensuring we maintain highest levels of customer service to our colleagues and external clients alike.

Reporting into People Advisor and working closely with the Talent Acquisition Manager, this is a highly networked role that requires an ability to be proactive, work under pressure and to challenging deadlines.

Previous experience in a People orientated role is desirable, but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, delivering and improving the onboarding process through integrating with our HRIS (scheduling new starter inductions, producing contracts of employment, offer letters, reference checks etc)

  • Providing a first class, first point of contact for all people and payroll queries

  • Supporting the TA Manager with recruitment activities and selection processes

  • Ensuring our people data and systems are accurate in order to support our decision making and colleagues trust in our team

  • Assisting with the monthly payroll process

  • Supporting the rest of the People team with various activities which will enable you to build your skills beyond the core role, for example:

    • Working with the Head of People on ED&I activities

    • Supporting the Culture Committee with initiatives

    • Enhancing our well-being activities by sourcing training providers and delivery of programmes to our colleagues

Skills & Experience required:

  • High level of knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications

  • Super organised and willing to organise others when needed

  • Strong attention to detail and an aptitude for processing numerical information (such as payroll data)

  • Experience in working within a busy team, dealing with customer questions and a varied workload

  • Ability to effectively prioritise and reprioritise based on nature of demands

You know you have been successful when…

  • New employees have had such a great experience joining the company they seek you out to thank you for your support

  • Our early turnover (turnover before 12 months service) reduces to 5%

  • You spot opportunities to improve and design better experiences without being asked

  • You are responding to people’s queries within 24 hours and, when you don’t know the answer you commit to find out

  • You are able to support the TA manager with the interview and selection process for other roles, not just supporting the arrangement of the interviews

  • There are rarely, if ever, any payroll errors

  • We, and Finance, all trust the data in our system to tell us the truth at all times

  • You feel like you have made a positive difference every day

The purpose of your new team:

Our core focus is to ensure our people are empowered, engaged and developed to care, connect and learn to ‘Innovate for a better world empowered by Space’.

We do this by developing services and opportunities that enable managers and support individuals to be their most effective selves, every day. People are at the centre of what we do, while principles govern how we act we work with the individuals we meet on a daily basis and tailor our approach to them and the needs of our organisation.

As part of this friendly and progressive team, you will be encouraged to contribute and to get involved with people initiatives that lead to big impact and improvements.

How we work:

We strive to create a high trust environment that enables team members to bring their whole selves to work – this helps to create the foundations of an innovation culture.
Our shared values are critical to this:

  • We care - for our people, our partners, and our planet

  • We connect - and engage with people and ideas

  • We learn - and grow, as people and as an industry

Underpinning this is our belief in great teams, our combined efforts will always deliver outcomes beyond that of any individual providing we are honest through debate, experiment and reflect, and create shared resolutions in support of our purpose. Live these values, work to our principles, take ownership to deliver, and we are certain you will thrive with us.
