Job Description

Introduction to the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our William Collins and Fourth Estate division, working with retailers, the division, as well as the wider UK sales team.

The team are open to receiving applications from Key Account Manager and Senior Key Account Manager level.

The role requires the ability to form strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, strong organisation skills and a desire to be involved in the whole publishing process.

This role offers the opportunity to gain great experience working on both incredible award-winning brand authors – including among many others - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Nigel Slater, Hilary Mantel, Max Hastings, Elizabeth Day, David Attenborough, Naomi Alderman and Brian Cox as well as exciting new debut voices across our lists and within a dedicated and friendly wider team.

Core responsibilities

  • Account management on Amazon (print) and the Supermarkets for 4th Estate and William Collins, plus oversight of the Sales Executive’s accounts which include WHSmith, Natural History and Religious specialists.

  • Working with the Sales Director to help pull together sales strategy and analysis on divisional titles.

  • Liaising with divisional contacts across Marketing PR, Editorial, Publishing Operations, Design and Commercial Finance.

  • Involvement in publishing processes such as print meetings, publishing meetings, Acquisitions and Cover meetings.

  • Working with the wider Home Trade sales team to ensure our priority titles are represented in relevant meetings.

  • Acting as divisional contact for the Digital Sales team and Field Sales team.

  • Be a passionate advocate of our books internally and externally.

Experience required

  • Account management experience

  • Experience of maintaining and developing working relationships

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience of working in a busy environment and managing priorities effectively.

Skills required

  • Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbally

  • Organised, detail orientated, and able to work quickly under pressure and use own initiative

  • Effective team player

  • Willing to learn and take on new challenges

  • A passion for literary and commercial fiction and non-fiction
