Job Description
PURPOSE
An exciting opportunity for a senior public policy advisor with a strong track record of delivery within the UK parliamentary and policy making environment to join the governing body for the country’s national summer sport.
As senior public policy advisor, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the ECB’s Inspiring Generations strategy and managing our engagement with political stakeholders.
Working closely with colleagues in Communications, Strategy, Participation and the Professional game, your role will be to advise and assist them on all activities relating to national and local policy issues relevant successful delivery of Inspiring Generations.
You will be expected to take the lead in :
Building and managing positive relationships with stakeholders in cricket and amongst senior opinion formers in Government, Parliament, devolved and local government.
Leading policy thinking in relation to how cricket can work with Government and other public institutions to connect communities and improve lives through cricket.

YOU'LL BE DOING
Supporting the delivery of the public policy elements of the ECB’s Strategy and manage the ECB’s engagement with political and policy stakeholders. You will support on all activities relating to local and national engagement.
Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Head of Public Policy and senior leaders within cricket to promote the work of the ECB to key political stakeholders.
Establishing regular contact with politicians, political advisers, civil servants, non-departmental public bodies to keep them informed about the organisation’s work and policy concerns.
Providing written or oral briefings for senior staff members and advise them on contact with decision-makers.
Organising or attending regular meetings and events with these stakeholders, representing ECB and forging contacts with key decision-makers.
Monitoring proceedings of the UK Parliaments and provide analysis of these for senior staff members
Providing internal forecasts of the likely effect of public policy changes on cricket’s strategic objectives
Researching to identify legislation / policies for the ECB to proactively influence
Managing the ECB response to various public policy issues, ensuring strategies and campaigns are developed to influence public policy debates and outcomes.
YOU'LL HAVE
Knowledge
Excellent knowledge of UK parliamentary, political and policy making systems, both Whitehall and the Senedd
An ability to grasp and communicate complex policy issues
An interest in cricket and knowledge of UK National Governing Bodies of Sport
Experience
Demonstrable experience operating as a public policy advisor with a strong track record of delivery within the UK parliamentary and policy making environment
Experience of working as part of a team on high profile, fast moving projects
Effective contacts across Westminster and Whitehall
Skills
An outstanding communicator with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
Ability to facilitate complex discussions that deliver impactful outcomes
