Job Description

Introduction to the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic Account Manager to join our Digital Sales team, working with digital ebook and audiobook retailers and with divisional responsibilities, as well as working with the wider sales team. You will be working with digital retailers across a diverse range of Fiction, Non-Fiction and Children’s authors such as Hilary Mantel, JRR Tolkien, Cher, Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, Rebecca Kuang, Davina McCall and Judith Kerr.

The role requires the ability to form excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, strong organisation and planning skills, and a desire to be involved in the whole publishing process. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who can take the initiative and is truly eager to sell our amazing books.

Key tasks and accountabilities:

  • Deliver the global sales and channel strategies for digital retailers to drive profitable sales and deliver on targets

  • Cultivate strong customer relationships and partnerships that deliver growth, maximising opportunities to lead the market and consistently innovate

  • Divisional lead within the business in collaboration with key stakeholders. You will develop digital sales strategy and advocate for all digital accounts and formats in divisional meetings

  • Responsible for an exciting and vast portfolio of world-renowned authors across a range of genres; working on major brands across fiction, nonfiction and children’s, developing sales strategies that effectively integrate with Group strategy

  • Work in day-to-day partnership with internal teams across Editorial, Pricing and Analytics, Marketing/PR and Production to ensure the highest standard for our digital products

  • Develop expertise in the digital landscape, identifying key trends and an awareness of competition in the market

  • Monitor retailers’ websites, and action corrections on all digital product, from pricing and metadata to file delivery and errors

Your first six months:

  • Build strong relationships with all key digital retailers

  • Deliver a sales strategy to hit budget expectations and deliver high visibility across key retailer platforms

  • Build strong relationships with the publishing and marketing teams across the company to ensure that we are maximising all social and consumer marketing opportunities to drive digital sales

  • Kept abreast of emerging digital trends and feed back to wider team on market trends and innovative ideas

  • Learn the sizable list, and identify key backlist opportunities

Skills and Experience required:

  • Account management, ideally in publishing

  • Experience of maintaining and developing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience of working in a busy environment and managing priorities effectively

  • An excellent communicator able to build relationships quickly and effectively

  • Organised and detail orientated

  • Effective team player

  • Willing to learn and take on new challenges

  • A passion for publishing and digital innovation
