Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Farshore division, working with retailers, the publishing division, as well as the wider UK sales team in HarperCollins.

 The role requires the ability to form strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, excellent organisation skills and a desire to be involved in the whole publishing process.  Ultimately, we are looking for someone who can take the initiative and is truly eager to work on our amazing list to build and grow sales with our retail partners.

 This role offers the opportunity to gain great experience working across a variety of lists, both in Farshore and HCCB. We boast the hottest brands in the world such as Minecraft, Mr Men Little Miss, Winnie-the-Pooh, Paddington, Dr Seuss, beloved picture books and non-fiction from authors and illustrators including, Julia Donaldson, Oliver Jeffers, fantastic fiction from best-selling authors, Matt Lucas, David Walliams, Michael Morpurgo, Laura Ellen Anderson, David Baddeil, Holly Jackson and Tahereh Mafi.

Core responsibilities

  • Excellent account management experience in High Street accounts in particular Waterstones & supermarkets

  • Working with the Sales Director to help pull together sales strategy and analysis on divisional titles.

  • Liaising with divisional contacts across Marketing PR, Editorial, Publishing Operations, Design and Commercial Finance.

  • Involvement in publishing processes such as print meetings, publishing meetings, acquisitions, and cover meetings.

  •   Working with the wider Home Trade Sales team to ensure our priority titles are represented in relevant meetings.

  • Be a passionate advocate of our books internally and externally.

  • Understanding the industry sector, having knowledge of competitor titles and campaigns and using this information to maximise Farshore & HCCB profile within accounts.

  • Communicate customer, competitor & other market intelligence feedback effectively.

  • Analyse data forensically and report swiftly and accurately to the business.

Writing business reports, forecasting revenue figures, and providing commentary to explain financials.

Skills required

  • Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbally

  • Organised, detail orientated, and able to work quickly under pressure and use own initiative

  • Effective team player

  • Willing to learn and take on new challenges

  • A passion for commercial fiction and non-fiction
