Job Description

Health Data Research UK Masters Scholarships

This application is for 2023/2024 intake only.

HDR UK is partnering with charities and industry to fund talented students through master’s degrees and enable them to carry out valuable real-world health data science research.

The £10,000 scholarships will be jointly funded by HDR UK and partners including Diabetes UK and Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Applications will be welcomed from students who have been accepted on relevant UK university master’s courses for 2023.

The scholarships will not only fund your degree, but will allow you to carry out a research project with one of our partner organisations.

This will provide you with invaluable experience of working in an important area of healthcare research and help you gain the insights, knowledge experience and qualifications you need to enter a field that offers lots of great career opportunities.

Who can apply?

No previous background in health data science is required but applicants will need:

  • A first degree at 2:1 or above in a quantitative subject (such as maths, physics or engineering)

  • A confirmed place for a health data science (or equivalent) master’s degree at a UK university

  • To be eligible for home fees

  • To demonstrate an interest in the relevant disease areas

  • Basic coding skills in R or Python.

Some previous experience in a life sciences project will be an advantage.

Applications are welcome from returning students – perhaps you have had a career break or are working in another field - and members of underrepresented groups.
