Health Data Research UK

Welcome to Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) - we are the UK's national institute for health data science.

About us

We are uniting the UK’s health data to enable discoveries that improve people’s lives. Our vision is that every health and care interaction and research endeavour will be enhanced by access to large scale data and advanced analytics.

We work together as ‘One Institute’ with common values of Transparency, Optimism, Respect, Courage and Humility (TORCH).

At Health Data Research UK (HDR UK), our work spans academia, healthcare, industry, charities plus patients and the public. Our colleagues include leading experts in health data research and innovation. We work together to develop and apply cutting-edge approaches to clinical, biological, genomic and other multi-dimensional health data, addressing the most pressing health research, and to provide training and education.

Our Recruitment Process

We have opted to embrace a recruitment process which places emphasis on your knowledge and skills rather than purely experience. We do this via something called ‘skills-based recruitment’.

So how does this work? When submitting an application, you will answer 3-4 sift questions. These will then be anonymised and randomised before being  scored by our hiring team. The top scoring candidates will then have their CVs anonymised and reviewed to help us decide who we interview. We feel proud of this fair and efficient process. Firstly, the sift questions allow us to bypass any initial screening calls, making our interview process more streamlined. It also means that your knowledge and skills speak for themselves, levelling the playing field for all our applicants.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us at recruitment@hdruk.ac.uk.

Please note, any perks and benefits listed only apply to HDR UK employees, and will not necessarily apply to interns or external postings.

What candidates think of Applied

Average rating

over the last 12 months

9 / 10
Asking on the job related questions not only shows you the candidate's experience, but also how they think. The fact that CVs aren't looked at and that they are anonymised makes it feel much more fair.
Bojan
The questions asked seemed very relevant and were fun to answer.
