Job Description

To provide vital administrative support to the Rights Director, working across all the adult trade nonfiction lists.  This role is fast-paced and varied, requiring accuracy and attention to detail. You will be contributing to a key commercial division of HarperCollins and working across international markets.

Key Accountabilities

  • General support and administrative back up including ad hoc support to Group Rights Director

  • Assisting in preparation for book fairs and sales trips, including scheduling meetings and collating sales material

  • Dealing with telephone and written rights queries

  • Creating and drafting contracts

  • Managing and updating the rights database

  • Co-edition fulfilment including file preparation, production liaison and invoicing to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of business

  • Cover art sales

  • Creating and updating rights guides

  • Working with the Rights Director to manage the process of selling rights into the US

  • Assisting the Custom Publishing team to research new business partners and book projects

  • Working on the Tolkien publishing programme in the US, Germany, France and Brazil

  • Drafting publicity round-up newsletters in rotation with other Rights Assistants

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Some knowledge or experience of administration

  • Keen interest in publishing rights

  • Excellent time management and organisation skills

  • Able to support and work within a team

  • Excellent attention to detail
