Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our 4th Estate and William Collins divisions, supporting our Key Accounts team as well as the wider UK sales team.

The role requires a high level of organisation and efficiency, proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and a desire to learn about new areas of the market in order to manage accounts. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who can take the initiative and is truly eager to work on our amazing list.

This role offers the opportunity to gain experience working across incredible award-winning brand authors (including Nigel Slater, Max Hastings and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie) as well as helping to launch new debut voices on our fiction list and sell in our wide-ranging non-fiction list – all within a dedicated and friendly team. There is also great sales experience to be had with responsibility for our specialist Natural History and Religious accounts, as well as working with our Senior Key Account Manager and Sales Director on the major high street, supermarket, online and Independent retailers.

Core responsibilities

  • Account management on Natural history and Religious accounts.

  • Administrative support to the Sales team.

  • Liaising with divisional contacts across Marketing PR, Editorial, Publishing Operations, Design and Commercial Finance.

  • Working with wider sales team including the UK Sales, Field Sales, Digital and Non Trade team.

  • Assist with author signings.

  • Create internal and external PowerPoint presentations.

  • Answer internal and customer queries quickly and effectively.

  • Ad-hoc administrative tasks e.g. formatting presentations, creating graphs and charts through Excel, ordering samples, marketing materials, etc.

  • Process customer orders in a clear and timely manner, liaising with Glasgow distribution, credit control and customer services to ensure the effective distribution of orders.

  • Raise any required marketing PO’s.

  • Be a passionate advocate of our books internally and externally.

Experience required

  • Sales admin experience is desirable but not essential.

  • Customer service experience.

  • Experience of maintaining and developing working relationships.

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience of working in a busy environment and managing priorities effectively.

Skills required

  • Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbally

  • Organised, detail orientated, and able to work quickly under pressure and use own initiative

  • Effective team player

  • Willing to learn and take on new challenges

  • A passion for literary and commercial fiction and non-fiction
