Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the British Book Award-winning marketing team at 4th Estate and William Collins to work on and support innovative campaigns for some of the most exciting new literary fiction and non-fiction. We are home to internationally acclaimed and bestselling authors such as Hilary Mantel, Elizabeth Day, Max Hastings, Yomi Adegoke, Monica Heisey, Daniel Kahneman, Nigel Slater, Sahil Bloom, Christina Lamb and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie alongside some of the most exciting new voices in literature. Recent campaign highlights include Asako Yuzuki’s Butter, Elizabeth Day’s One of Us, Oisín McKenna’s Evenings and Weekends, Coco Mellors’ Blue Sisters, Andrew Lownie’s Entitled and Jung Chang’s Fly, Wild Swans.

Reporting to the Marketing Director and working closely with the marketing team, the Marketing Assistant will provide campaign and administrative support to help the marketing team deliver creative, effective and measurable campaigns. They will also feed ideas into, create content for, and manage some of the social and online channels within the division.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

  • Provide general administrative support for the department including coordinating proof schedules, producing the divisional catalogues, helping with digital administration, assisting on key author presentations, raising purchase orders, tracking spend and minute taking in relevant divisional meetings

  • Work with colleagues to ensure that campaigns make full use of online marketing opportunities. Maintain and contribute to divisional social channels and plan and execute regular emails to subscribers across our lists.

  • Support retail activity, ensuring the sales department have all the marketing communications materials they need.

  • Working alongside other members of the marketing team, manage elements of author campaigns where relevant.

  • Support a culture of collaboration, working closely with the wider marketing communications team to ensure that the comms output is single minded and joined up.

Experience Required

  • Experience of managing, developing or creating a social and online presence, even if it is your own.

Skills Required

  • A passion for literary fiction and non-fiction

  • Enthusiasm! We want someone who wants to grab this opportunity with both hands and is keen to work in a marketing role in the publishing industry

  • A team player with excellent communication and people skills

  • Innovative and creative

  • A digital native or someone who embeds digital media into all they do
