Job Description

ECB Super 4s

The ECB Super 4 regional competition is a vital part of the ECBs player pathway and serves two purposes;

  • Best v Best development opportunity for high potential players

  • Assess current readiness and future potential of players

 

ROLE SUMMARY

The ECB Super 4s Head Coach will be responsible for leading the player selection process for the tournament, leading the regional squad during the ECB Super 4s programme, and providing player observations and feedback following the tournament.

 In this role you will be required to attend ECB Super 4s Tournament (17th -22nd July 2022) and attend all nomination and selection meetings (2 days). We anticipate a commitment of circa 9 days in total.

Key Responsibilities

NOMINATION & SELECTION

  • Engage in the nomination process with County Pathway Leads

  • Work closely with the Player Identification Lead, Young Lions Head Coach, National Talent Manager, County Talent Pathway Leads, Young Lions Selectors and Scouts to ensure a transparent, robust and timely selection process

  • Lead the selection and decision-making process for the region.

  • Confirm final squad (including reserves) to ECB by the stated deadline

  • Communicate selection decisions with County Talent Pathway Leads

PROGRAMME DELIVERY

  • Be present for the entire programme

  • Lead coaching activities (to include deployment of Assistant Coach) 

  • Create an outstanding development environment for all players

  • Ensure necessary equipment is available for coaching sessions and matches

  • Be responsible for player safety and welfare throughout the tournament, adhering to all safeguarding guidelines

  • Be responsible for the conduct of the team

  • Liaise with designated staff

COMMUNICATION

  • Ensure an effective dialogue with county coaches

  • Provide players with on-going performance feedback

  • Provide scouting observation notes (as requested by Player Identification Lead)

GENERAL

  • Participate in meetings relating to coaching delivery, nomination/selection etc.

  • Role model high standards of personal and professional integrity at all times

  • Undertake other duties as requested
