Job Description
Introduction to the role
One More Chapter is an innovative, award-winning publishing division of HarperCollins UK. They are the home of global bestsellers such as Evie Woods and Laurie Gilmore with a remit to be at the forefront of all things digital.
Combining market-leading digital publishing with the commercial expertise of HarperCollins, the vision for One More Chapter is to close the gap between author, publisher and reader; reacting speedily to reading trends and publishing the best in commercial fiction across all formats – audio, eBook and print. Digital first for One More Chapter does not mean digital only.
We are looking for an experienced marketeer to join our small but dynamic team to lead our marketing and brand strategy for One More Chapter with the focus on growing the brand and sales globally. Working alongside the publisher we are looking for a candidate who can drive the digital marketing strategy, manage the marketing team and conceive, execute and measure impactful marketing campaigns in line with divisional strategy. With our startup mentality there will be the scope to innovate and put forward new ideas. This is a fast-paced commercial fiction list and you will be part of a team that has a lot of fun along the way!
Core responsibilities:
Originate a consumer-focussed, cohesive, results-driven global marketing strategy for One More Chapter’s brand as a whole
Create, deliver and measure impactful campaigns in line with divisional strategy internationally
Be at the forefront of digital innovation enabling OMC to grow in our key territories
Overall responsibility for the quality and effectiveness of marketing and promotional materials
Ensure appropriate marketing information and tools are used, with consumer data appropriately tagged, GDPR compliant, and ensure that the team are using the data effectively to drive sales.
Key contributor to decision making process in acquisitions and pitches
Manage departmental operations and marketing budgets working closely with Publishing Director
Be the voice of the One More Chapter reader in the business, championing their needs and view point
Develop and share own market awareness and competitor knowledge, using HarperCollins insights tools where applicable
Effectively communicate marketing plans to author, agent and relevant stakeholders
Attract, manage and develop talented marketing staff
Experience required:
Extensive marketing experience within publishing
Budget management
People management
A passion for commercial fiction – from women’s fiction to crime and thriller, historical to fantasy and Sci-fi
Skills required:
Creative, strategic, results-focused marketing skills
Dexterity across all social media platforms creating online presence for authors and brands or genres
Meticulous eye for detail
Analytical skills
Personal organisation and multi-tasking
Copy-writing, author positioning and branding skills
Video and design suite skills, specifically Canva, Photoshop and InDesign
Metadata and digital publishing skills
Market focused with high commercial awareness
Understanding of the global publishing market
Presentation skills
Resilient
Ability to communicate and build positive working relationships with contacts at all levels
An interest in or affinity with the list
