Job Description

About Applied

Applied is the platform for unbiased hiring. We’re pushing back against outdated hiring practices by redesigning the process to be more inclusive, more data-driven, and better for candidates. Our product is born out of years of research and is leaving CVs behind to surface the best candidates. Our mission is to supercharge the world’s social mobility by transforming how people get hired - come join us!

Given what we do, we’re keen to build diverse teams. As we've moved to a remote-first working style, we trust people to work enough hours to do good work, at times that suit you and your team.

You can read more about us in the New York Times, Harvard Business Review, TechCrunch and New Scientist and learn more about how we give Candidates useful feedback here.

The role

We’re looking for an SEO and Content Manager to help us supercharge our online visibility.

Our ideal candidate is someone who’s well-versed in the importance of on-page, off-page and technical SEO. You’ll be someone who loves to find patterns in data, and spot opportunities for quick wins in the SERPS.

You know your way round a few pieces of the SEO and Marketing tech out there (you’ve probably got a favourite), and you know how you can use it to get the best results.

You’re a natural storyteller, adept at finding new ways of expressing concepts, and squeezing every last drop out of every piece of content you produce.

We believe that diverse and inclusive teams both perform better and make for a richer experience at work. So we’re open to candidates wherever they’ve derived their skill and passion from for this role.

We’re looking for someone who’s impatient to deliver and keen to get stuck in and exhibits the below characteristics.

Our SEO and Content Manager should:

  • Be obsessed with data and results, measuring what works well and what doesn’t.

  • Be passionate about crafting content and reaching new audiences.

  • Be flexible and adaptable - we're a startup and that means moving fast and sometimes changing direction.

  • Be creative, with an eye for design and good at generating new ideas.

  • Be empowered by an entrepreneurial environment - you’re a self-starter who can work collaboratively and autonomously (you won’t get a task list here!)

  • Have a love for learning - in a startup, none of us have all of the answers, so an openness and willingness to constantly learn are essential.

In your first 6 months at Applied you'll:

  • Improve our search visibility - helping more businesses who are ready for our platform find us.

  • Assign and edit work coming in from our 2 freelancers, as well as crafting content yourself.

  • Help us to grow our organic traffic and improve our visibility.

  • Regularly communicate with and nurture our community of HR professionals through newsletters and email content.

  • Work closely with colleagues in Digital Marketing and Social Media to secure maximum engagement for all content produced

  • Manage and regularly report on our SEO progress, constantly experimenting and planning ahead.

Like the rest of the Applied team members you'll benefit from:

  • Equity in the business

  • Wellbeing benefit & access to Spill

  • Flexible and remote working options

  • Involvement in other aspects of the business, from strategy, management and training, to shaping team culture

  • Being part of something that's both commercially successful and socially important

What are the next steps?

You don't need a CV, just your brain

To get started, pop your email in the top right of this page.

Instead of submitting a CV, you’ll answer some questions that are related to the job. After the job closes, your answers will go through our sift process: *all answers will be anonymised, randomised and then reviewed by a panel of reviewers.*

If you are shortlisted, we’ll invite you to interview, which will also be managed through our platform. Also, we love giving feedback, so at the end you'll see how well you performed at each stage of the application process.

Right to work: We do NOT provide visas so please only apply if you have a right to work in the UK.

*please note that we are a fully remote team at the moment which in time may shift back to a hybrid or flexible working setup.
