Job Description
HarperCollins is looking for a Commissioning Editor to join the staff of HarperCollins Ireland. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the most innovative and ambitious operations in world publishing and play an integral role in shaping the identity of its Irish trade division.
As the team’s Commissioning Editor, you will be tasked with discovering the best-sellers and award-winners of the future and helping them achieve their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include identifying new publishing opportunities across a range of genres (fiction & non-fiction), formulating a clear creative and commercial vision; engaging with authors and agents to acquire titles; as well as collaborating with colleagues to build and execute effective publishing campaigns. You will also work to establish strong relationships with partners elsewhere in trade and national media, represent HarperCollins Ireland at industry events, and contribute to a variety of strategic initiatives.
This is a role with tremendous scope for career progression and personal development, and it will afford the successful candidate an opportunity to join a skilled team at the heart of a fast-paced and exciting industry. The ideal applicant is an enthusiastic self-starter, a skilled problem-solver, and a keen observer of contemporary developments in the arts, media and public domain. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a necessity, as is an ability to manage a varied and demanding workload.
