Job Description

PURPOSE

The Hundred is a sporting event like no other. World class entertainment, the world’s best players and the women’s and men’s games on equal footing. It is the highest profile sports event to launch in the UK for many years and has taken a leap forward in the past 12 months. It now boasts a hugely impressive roster of new investment partners who share our passion and vision for growth.

Over the next three to four years, our ambition is to deliver world-class cricket with the very best players, create box-office moments and grow national TV audiences, build lasting passion for teams, and accelerate value creation for teams. Achieving these ambitions requires clear strategy, strong governance and close alignment across investors, teams and stakeholders, which the Head of Strategy will help to shape and deliver.

YOU’LL BE DOING

Core responsibilities of the Head of Strategy include:

  • Shape The Hundred’s long-term strategy, including across competition design, value creation and team growth

  • Support the Managing Director and The Hundred Board in decision-making and delivery of their priorities, including by producing analysis, recommendations, and business cases

  • Partner with The Hundred’s commercial, marketing, events, and other functional teams to develop, prioritise and implement strategic initiatives and action plans

  • Lead and support The Hundred’s Delivery and Working Groups as appropriate

  • Lead the business planning process for the department

  • Support implementation of the new operating model and legal frameworks, including successful implementation of new team services, drawing on knowledge of the team services design, Participation Agreement and related contracts

  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with teams, partners and ECB stakeholders, leveraging existing networks and acting as a central point of coordination

  • Provide financial and performance oversight, including budgeting, reporting, and strategic use of data to inform decisions

  • Bring innovative thinking and problem-solving to anticipate challenges and unlock new opportunities for growth

YOU’LL HAVE

This role is accountable to the Managing Director, The Hundred for shaping the long-term strategy of the competition and supporting the Board in its decision-making. The Head of Strategy is a key member of The Hundred Leadership Team and will work within the wider ECB structures, collaborating closely with colleagues across finance, legal, commercial, marketing and events. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading major strategic initiatives, coordinating Working and Delivery Groups, overseeing implementation of the new operating model, business planning to protect and grow the long-term value of The Hundred. A key part of the role will be learning from and building on the expertise of our teams and the world-class investors now on board, ensuring their perspectives are embedded in the strategy and in the delivery of long-term value.

  • The successful candidate will have a strong track record in strategy and delivery.

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, financial and legal literacy, and the ability to support The Hundred Board and Managing Director in complex decision-making.

  • The ability to build trusted relationships and navigate a complex stakeholder environment will be key.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to turn analysis into clear storylines and recommendations.

  • In addition, the candidate should combine a sound understanding of The Hundred’s future model and key agreements, including the Participation Agreement, with the ability to help shape The Hundred’s governance and operating models as they evolve.
