Job Description

PURPOSE

To deliver the ECB Umpiring Course to prospective new umpires, covering one of the following Counties:

  • Bedfordshire

  • Cornwall

  • Cumbria

  • Herefordshire

  • Kent

  • Lancashire

  • Lincolnshire

  • Middlesex

  • Norfolk

  • Shropshire

  • Staffordshire

  • Suffolk

  • Sussex

  • Creating a positive learning experience by delivering content in an inspiring manner.

  • Demonstrating high levels of professionalism, knowledge and expertise.

  • Working closely with Counties to contribute to the smooth organisation of the course.

  • Committing to developing yourself and to maintaining mandatory training requirements (see below).

YOU’LL HAVE

Essential

  • Experience of teaching, training or tutoring, preferably to different age groups, genders and cultural groups preferred.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Laws of Cricket.

  • Knowledge and understanding of current umpiring practice.

  • Experience of supporting the development of umpires.

  • Understanding of the use of modern technology to facilitate learning.

Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of the application of blended learning.

  • Knowledge and understanding of current educational practices.

Role specifics:

Mandatory training commitment:

  • Completion of the ECB’s tutor training course; relevant safeguarding qualification; in-date DBS check.

Delivery requirements:

  • Must be able to commit to delivering 3 courses per 12 month period.

Course content:

  • Preparation, player and game management, communication and teamwork.

Course duration:

  • 7 hours.

Kit:

  • ECB kit will be provided and which is required to be worn when delivering the course.
