Job Description

The Lead Stories Producer will deliver compelling and powerful stories showcasing Comic Relief’s impact to drive fundraising and brand awareness across all channels including broadcast and digital but with a strong focus on written stories for media placement and to meet the story needs of our corporate partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the content team and our colleagues in Impact and Investment to source the most compelling stories from CR’s investments in order to drive fundraising and awareness

  • Liaise with the fundraising, media, marketing and corporate teams to understand and meet the need for stories across the organization.

  • Effectively manage and motivate the Stories Assistant Producer

  • Help manage a database of stories and track their usage across CR’s output to ensure we are maximizing the potential of the stories we gather across all our channels

  • Help manage our relationships with the projects we fund over time

  • Research, gather and write case studies and copy for placement across CR’s channels including for social media.

  • Follow CR’s guidance on safe storytelling and build the objectives from CR’s Representation Policy into the approach to casting contributors and gathering stories.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • At least 5 years’ experience working in journalism or within a charity story gathering team

  • Excellent writing skills with great attention to detail and ability to tailor content to suit print, digital and broadcast outlets

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to speak sensitively and with emotional intelligence to contributors with lived experience

  • Strong understanding of all aspects of consent, safeguarding, and data protection within the story process.

  • Experience managing and leading teams preferable
