Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The PR Executive will work alongside the Head of Publicity to support the implementation of innovative media and event campaigns for authors and brands across the HarperCollins portfolio. Working closely with the wider Marketing and PR team, directed by the Marketing & PR Director, the PR Executive will work to drive profitable sales and raise and maintain the profile of our authors and illustrators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Publicity in the implementation of successful and innovative PR campaigns for specific authors/brands.

  • Opportunity to create and lead on campaigns under the mentorship of Head of Publicity e.g. pitch for media coverage/secure features and reviews, organise author tours and events.

  • Support author events and tour activity, writing author schedules, coordinating logistics, sending marketing materials and accompanying authors to events (some weekend and evening work required).

  • Manage and implement HCCB awards strategy ensuring relevant titles are submitted.

  • Work with the marketing team to ensure events and author activity are promoted on our social channels.

  • Pitch out active authors to key literary festivals throughout the year and manage travel and hotel bookings for the PR department.

  • Build and maintain our influencer/digital list ensuring contacts are kept up to date and relevant.

  • Work closely with the editorial team, agents, and authors to ensure strong relationships are maintained.

  • Assist with HCCB’s presence at book conferences, librarian conferences and other industry occasions and represent HCCB when required at these events.

  • Assist in drafting and distributing press releases and review mailings.

  • Manage personal administration and organisation to a high standard.

  • To support the Head of Publicity with administrative support e.g. booking travel, mail outs etc.
