HQ prides itself on publishing books that are bold, brave, inclusive, and always with a compelling story to tell.You will be a senior voice in the Marketing team, bringing market knowledge and marketing experience to produce outstanding campaigns that will deliver consumer cut-through and drive sales. 

The Role

You will plan for and implement sales-driven campaigns across a range of fiction titles, including brand authors and debuts. You will oversee the creation, planning and execution of marketing campaigns, working across all formats, and be accountable for and report on the campaign goals and performance and develop and manage direct to consumer channels.  

You will use data to inform decisions and deliver results and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of market trends and consumer sectors.  

You will be strategic, highly commercial and action-oriented, consumer-focussed and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative, creative and targeted marketing activity including all planning, briefing and delivery of market-leading campaigns that will create cut-through and deliver sales

  • Ensure that delivery of all creative, media, and digital plans are on brief and in budget

  • Deliver on all elements of marketing campaigns including advertising, partnerships, sell-in materials, proofs, copywriting and social media marketing

  • Work with colleagues in trade marketing to develop creative partnerships, deliver sell-in materials and maximise opportunities for our books in trade channels 

  • Effectively communicate marketing campaigns internally and externally as necessary  

  • Measure and evaluate campaigns, sharing learnings and optimising for future activity 

  • Set KPIs, monitor ROI, share learnings and provide ongoing analysis of marketing campaigns to inform our marketing and publishing decisions  

  • Drive audience development for key authors, brands and titles, working alongside the Marketing Director and editorial colleagues to deliver long term strategic goals for brand authors 

  • Act as key liaison with external organisations and agencies, managing the relationship and ensuring that all opportunities are maximised and deadlines are met

  • Act as a senior voice in the team, sharing best practice and supporting team members on marketing practices   

  • Use consumer insight and data to understand and inform target audiences 

  • Work with existing brand and media partners to leverage reader interest and expand our consumer reach, and pro-actively explore opportunities with new brand partners

  • Work with digital agencies to implement innovative marketing campaigns and best-in-class activity  

  • Demonstrate strong agency, media and blogger relationships to help maximise all communications opportunities and activity 

  • Support a culture of collaboration and integration, working closely with Publicity, Sales and Editorial to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met 

Skills and Experience

  • Strong track record of delivering creative, strategic and highly successful marketing campaigns for bestselling brand authors

  • Excellent digital marketing skills including implementing, managing and evaluating digital advertising

  • Dexterity across all social media platforms, with the ability to create inclusive and accessible online presences for authors, brands or genres

  • A clear and demonstrable understanding of the importance of social platforms and a track-record of creating engaging content

  • Ability to think strategically – analytical capability coupled with a hands-on, execution focus 

  • Ability to amplify creative thinking and generate strong creative work across various media disciplines 

  • Understanding of Metadata and digital publishing skills  

  • Excellent copywriting, author positioning and branding skills  

  • Commercially astute with experience managing budgets, reporting on KPIs and measuring ROI. 

  • Excellent organisation skills

  • Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced commercial environment, able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise with confidence.

  • Team-player, looking to share their expertise with the wider marketing team to foster a culture of shared learning
