Job Description

We are looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our Product and Engineering team.

Oak provides school teachers and pupils with the highest quality curriculum and lesson resources across all subjects and age groups and, in this role, you will be working with engineering, product and research colleagues to gather data requirements, build data models to support the required analyses and manage a pipeline of transformations that let us understand our users and help us continually improve our products.

We work together in product squads alongside designers, researchers and education experts, regularly releasing new features and improvements to give teachers and their pupils quick and easy access to the highest quality learning resources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the continuous improvement of Oak’s analytics data transformation pipeline and business intelligence systems

  • Work closely with engineering, product and data colleagues to ensure our analytics data can deliver the actionable insights they need

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the reliability, effectiveness and quality of analytics data across the organisation

  • Take initiative on transforming raw product analytics events into analysable data

  • As a member of the Oak Team, contribute to the planning and culture of the organisation

  • Work in cross-functional and product oriented squads with colleagues from across the organisation, as required

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • 1+ years experience leading the continuous improvement of analytics data transformation pipelines and business intelligence systems

  • 3+ years experience working heavily with SQL-based systems

  • 1+ years experience working with transformation tools such as dbt or Dataform

  • Experience working with Data Warehouses such as Google BigQuery

  • Experience working closely with product teams helping them plan, capture and exploit data to support iterative product improvements

The successful candidate will have a desire to contribute in all areas to ensure Oak is successful. You will be comfortable working at pace, with a range of digital systems (including proprietary ones as required) and you will continuously look at ways that the team can keep getting better. You will be at ease working as part of a remote team, building relationships and managing your time effectively.

All you need to do is start the process by clicking on the button on the top right.

You’ll answer some questions that are related to your day-to-day job. After the advert closes, your answers will go through our sift process: all answers will be anonymised, randomised and then reviewed by a panel of reviewers.

If you are shortlisted, we’ll invite you to a remote interview the next stage, which will be an initial screening call with the hiring manager. Also, we love giving feedback, so at the end of the application process we'll share how well you performed.

We are aiming to hold screening calls in early August 2023.

We are experiencing really good responses to our job adverts. This may lead us to closing the role early and so if you are considering applying then please get your application in early to avoid missing out.
