An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Marketing Manager to join our multi award-winning HarperFiction marketing team.

There has never been a more exciting time to join HarperFiction. You’ll build and implement strategic and dynamic campaigns across a wide range of titles and apply imagination and critical thinking to grow brands and break out new writing talent. The successful candidate will be a confident and valued voice in the HarperFiction marketing team, bringing their knowledge of the market and prior experience to deliver outstanding campaigns.

Key tasks and accountabilities

As Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for planning and executing your own integrated and innovative marketing campaigns, that will reach and engage diverse readerships. And you’ll support colleagues on event level and brand campaigns, devising creative ways to drive sales across a wide variety of titles.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can confidently plan and deliver strategic and creative marketing campaigns

  • Is a passionate reader of fiction

  • Is brilliant communicator able to lead campaigns and collaborate creatively with a wide variety of stakeholders both internal and external to the business

  • Is a creative, commercial and strategic thinker who is comfortable using consumer insight and market knowledge to produce best-in-class campaigns with real impact

  • Is ROI-focused, able to effectively measure results and evaluate campaigns, and share learnings with wider team and stakeholder

  • Understands the need to be responsive and flexible to pull in the market, maximising opportunities that arise on frontlist and backlist titles

  • Enjoys keeping up-to-date with the latest trends, media and wider cultural landscape

  • Is a team-player, looking to share their learnings with the wider marcomms team in order to foster a culture of shared learning

  • Has a proven track record delivering digital excellence across a variety of online platforms, both organic and paid

  • Has a clear and demonstrable understanding of the importance of social platforms and how to engage followers around our titles through great content

  • Is excited by the opportunity of working with new brand partners creatively to expand our reach

  • Enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced commercial environment, able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise with confidence

  • Clear and demonstrable understanding of the importance of digital optimisation across online retail channels

  • Has an active interest in campaigns from across the book industry as well as the wider entertainment and media sector

Experience and Skills Required

  • A proven ability to plan and execute marketing campaigns

  • Creative flair with an aptitude for copy-writing and digital content creation

  • An ability to write clear, directive and imaginative creative briefs for freelance designers

  • Strong organisation, communication and prioritisation skills.

  • Calm under pressure

  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the business and externally

  • An understanding of the commercial book market and book buyer

  • Strong marketing skills across online and offline media platforms

  • A digital native that can bring their experience on social media platforms to the team.

  • Experience working in a busy marketing, campaigns or communications department

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Data-driven and results focused
