Job Description

 This role is offered on a hybrid contract giving you the opportunity to also work from home three days a week.

Comic Relief reserves the right to close the role early if a large number of applications are received.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Database Manager will join the Technology team at an exciting time as we implement and develop transformational products that drive Comic Relief’s work and enable teams across the organisation to be data-driven and achieve strategic objectives. The role will be vital in ensuring effective administration and management of existing and newly implemented Salesforce products, working alongside dedicated product managers and data engineers.

We’re looking for a Database Manager to maintain and administer our Salesforce platforms that are crucial to our fundraising and funding strategy. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders across the organisation including Fundraising, Partnerships, Grant Management, Technology and Data. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring data security, quality, integrity and consistency. You will play a role in validating the data which ensures that all of our activities are guided by our audience and our social impact, as we work towards our vision of a just world, free from poverty. 

Interviews are expected to take place on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th of February

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Data management

  • Day-to-day data management tasks required to improve accuracy and efficiency of data in Salesforce Non Profit Cloud and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

  • Complete ad-hoc data quality checks and adjustments to supporter data as and when identified by the business.

  • Manage our integrated tool Clarity Data Transform (CDT) to see errors through to completion by resolving the problem or escalating where appropriate.

  • Establish relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and help them resolve data issues and requests.

Testing and quality assurance

  • Monitor and report system performance metrics, errors, inaccuracies or inefficiencies, making recommendations as needed.

  • Introduce and manage an ongoing data quality programme to enhance the integrity and usefulness of the data within Salesforce and building users’ confidence in the data.

  • Maintain and develop Salesforce reports and dashboards to monitor data quality and support business needs.

Data governance and security

  • Manage user access and permissions in order to maintain data security and safeguard sensitive information.

  • Monitor log ins and system changes, evaluating risk and issues and escalating as required.

  • Ensure system and data compliance with organisation and GDPR policies.

Champion best practise

  • Create and maintain documentation to support both technical and non-technical data processes, ensuring it’s relevant for its purpose and reviewing and updating when required.

  • Build positive working relationships with end users, sharing knowledge with users and building confidence in the data.

  • Ensure a good understanding of all features of Salesforce products, both technical and non-technical.  

  • Contribute to and support the team to ensure Comic Relief’s Salesforce products are reliable, secure, and resilient, and solutions enable end users to achieve business objectives.

  • Research and participate in training and stay current on related issues and technologies. 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 

Essential criteria 

  • Experience working alongside teams to ensure data quality, integrity and consistency.

  • Experience with CRM systems, such as Salesforce.

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a data quality role.

  • Experience of developing data quality rules and enhancing the quality of the data held in a CRM system.

  • Knowledge of SQL, relational databases, CRM systems and/or large datasets.

  • Knowledge of data cleansing techniques.

  • Understanding of data protection legislation.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and end-users.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.

Desirable criteria

  • Salesforce certifications or other relevant qualifications. 

  • Effective relationship builder with excellent stakeholder management skills.  

  • Experience with project management tools and ticketing systems (e.g. Jira, Confluence).

  • Experience of working in an agile environment preferrable but not essential.

  • Experience working in the non-profit sector.  

  • A genuine enthusiasm for data, and the ability to communicate that to colleagues and to drive continuous improvement through collaboration.
