Job Description
Reporting into the Project Management Office, the Technical Project Manager will run and manage projects within HarperCollins Technology, using appropriate methodology and making use of their technical background and expertise on complex technical projects.
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate proven experience in methods and techniques associated with planning, monitoring and managing technical projects.
Demonstrate a good general knowledge of technical concepts
Maintain and cultivate internal and external relationships with those involved in projects
Results/Outcomes
Projects managed on time and to budget and project documentation maintained throughout the lifespan of the project (including plans, requirements, risks, issues)
To allow for understanding of discussions with engineers, architects and data specialists to details and agree requirements
Issues and risks escalated in a timely manner
Experience Required
Applied experience with enterprise projects with detailed technical requirements and complex architectural decision elements
Evidence of practical technical delivery or at least study
Experience of systems integration of business processes with/without process re-engineering
Experience of projects with complex structured testing requirements
An understanding and ability to articulate non-functional requirements
Knowledge Required
A good understanding of the fundamentals of modern cloud infrastructure: virtual machines, containers, serverless functions, load-balancers, availability zones, infrastructure-as-code
An understanding of different types of enterprise data solutions and their uses; relational databases, no-SQL databases, data lakes
An understanding of how enterprise technology works in the context of ITSM and service delivery and how projects transition services into operation
Skills Required
Excellent organisational and administrational skills
Ability to manage expectations
Has high quality standards for work and a real attention to detail
High commitment to service provision and professional standards
Able to build relationships of mutual respect and trust with managers and colleagues
