Job Description

PURPOSE

This role has been created to support the communication team with PR campaigns that contribute to the delivery of the ECB’s five-year strategy, Inspiring Generations.

As an experienced and organised senior exec / manager, you’ll help evolve and deliver first-class PR campaign work aimed at driving participation, changing consideration of cricket, reaching new audiences, and showcasing amazing stories from across the game.

The role is a pivotal part of the communications team, designed to deliver significant PR campaigns that form part of Inspiring Generations, including The Hundred. Our ambition to grow women’s and girls’ cricket, champion inclusion and diversity and inspire youth participation will also all be part of this role.

You will work closely with the PR Campaigns Lead and Head of Campaigns, ensuring all activity is on track for delivery.

WHO WE ARE

The England and Wales Cricket Board is the national governing body for all cricket in England and Wales, supporting the game at every level – from grassroots to professional.

We know that cricket is a force for good and makes an enduring impact on people’s lives. It provides great entertainment.  It teaches important skills, both physical and social.  It can help inclusion and social cohesion. It’s something for everyone to watch, play or enjoy, across genders, age, disability and diverse communities.

OUR VALUES

  • Stronger As One Team – We are stronger together. We allow for individual strengths and beliefs but head in the same direction. We respect, support and really listen to each other along the way.

  • Push New Boundaries – We are bold, brave and curious. We challenge and don’t settle. We forge the future whilst remembering our roots.

  • Be The Best In The Game – On & Off The Pitch – We train hard. We strive to be our best to help the team be the best. We celebrate our victories and learn from our let downs.

  • Passion For Play – We are here to inspire & be inspired. We are serious about what we do, but don’t take ourselves seriously. We enjoy the journey and have fun.

YOU’LL LOVE THIS JOB IF…

  • You have a passion for delivering impactful communication campaigns that deliver meaningful transformation. You’ll understand how to drive consideration, challenge mindsets and create behaviour change – and you’ll be aware that to create cut-through, creative storytelling is key.

  • You’re both a team player and a self-starter who uses their initiative to maintain project momentum but is a strong collaborator.

  • You’re organised and focused on how to drive maximum impact through the development and delivery of high reaching communications and engagement strategies.

  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and an exemplary track record developing and managing relationships with stakeholders, internally and externally.

  • You have expertise across earned, owned, unpaid and loaned channels, and importantly how they can work both independently and cohesively.

  • You thrive under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, confidently managing up when additional support is required.

  • You are passionate about the power of sport and its ability to inspire and unite communities.

  • You bring an ‘out of the box’ approach to your work.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Delivering a series of targeted, proactive campaigns to help cricket reach new audiences and address the objectives defined in the Inspiring Generations strategy.

  • Harnessing the power of major cricketing moments to throw cricket’s doors open to everyone, including year two of The Hundred.

  • Championing the progress the ECB is making in equality, inclusion, and diversity, keeping it at the heart of everything you do.

  • Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders across the game and harnessing the power of the cricket network to deliver campaigns with a greater impact.

  • Managing third party agencies to ensure the team delivers on its objectives and agreed KPIs.

  • Putting insight and measurement at the core of your work – setting, measuring, and optimising KPIs throughout.

  • Managing project budget pots to ensure we are investing wisely to achieve campaign objectives, while staying within budget parameters.

  • Working closely with the media team to achieve maximum impact and coverage across a wide range of channels for campaign news stories and announcements.

  • Developing a range of written media materials for both internal and external use, including (but not limited to): press releases, Q&As, press statements and briefing documents.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • A strong track record in delivering high-profile PR campaigns to a variety of different consumer audiences.

  • The ability and experience to reach a wide range of audiences, crucially families, young people, females, and ethnically diverse communities.

  • Exceptional written, verbal and communications skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of influencer marketing and leveraging the non-traditional media landscape to reach and engage new audiences.

  • Experience collaborating with other disciplines (PR, marketing, digital, media buying, partnerships) to deliver high-profile campaigns.

  • Creative flair coupled with attention to detail.

  • Strong command of the media, creator, and cultural landscape, with an ability to think quickly to hijack the news agenda.

  • Experience nurturing and developing junior colleagues, as well as managing third party agencies / suppliers.
